ospho prep before paint

i stripped my car and soaked it in ospho a few times, i have knocked off most of the dust getting ready to paint, still have a little paint to take off too, I was telling my freind what i was doing and he profusley told me i had to re ospho the car in a light coat, it it sit for a minute or two and wipe it off, i dont like the idea of painting over an acid, it just sounds so wrong! anyone ever played with ospho? i was going to strip the car to bare metal and paint it, but apprently it will rust if i do that, which ive never heard of before, so should i strip her bare and paint, or go through the whole ospho game again?

neutralize the acid first before any primer or paint or you will have problems

  I use that stuff a lot, re wet and scrub with a green or red scrubby in 3x3 sections and wipe dry using clean dry cloths. Keep using clean cloths and don't let the OSPHO dry wipe it off. You'll want to re-scuff the whole car/area to paint and clean the surface very well. As you have already treated the car do not use an epoxy primer that has it's own acid in it like SPI's, use a neutral one. I've heard Kirker's works well. (I'll know later this year, I'm trying it out.)

i have an epoxy primer for the car, so i should strip bare to keep with an epoxy paint right?
and b5blue you said to wet the car, wipe dry and rescuff and clean right before paint?
and is there a reason i shouldnt go bare metal?

Re apply OSPHO and clean as described, you don't want a "thickness" of OSPHP film at all on there. It's acid it's chemically burned into the surface of the steel.
