What Charger slipped through your fingers?  :popcrn:

Which Charger do you wish you had pulled the trigger on, and lost-out to someone else? :popcrn:

What are your stories on this?

OldGuy

Had just bought my 68 R/T from a guy in 1969.  Went to the dealer to check on some information regarding the car.  Noticed a 1969 Daytona on the lot.  It looked kind of weird with the nose cone and tail.  They wanted just over $5,000 for it.  I was a poor college student that couldn't afford it even with trading in my 68 R/T for it :brickwall:

About eight or so years ago I looked at a '68 383 4 speed car in good running condition.  They wanted 6K for it and probably would have taken less.  Not much visible rust, but painted a weird after market green.  I had recently finished my R/T clone and didn't feel like jumping into another project, so I passed. :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

Well, I was 13 when I caught this little native Brown using a Muddler Minnow on a wet line. We ate the fish, but I kept the rod... it's hanging in my living room today. What's that?... OH, you say this thread is suppose to be about car's?... OOoops!

The $5000 dollar E-bay Charger. I saw the ad listed on this site whent to the E-bay listing had my mouse on the buy-it-now button, thought it was too good to be true so I tried to call the owner about the car, I then made up my mind to buy before someone else would and when I refreshed the listing it had sold to Skip.

circa 1979-seattle times ad:

1968 Charger 426 4-speed 60,000 original miles $1500.

By the time I got there it was sold. Was a tan 68 Charger with black roof and black interior. It was the first time I had seen a 426 hemi in a street car. It had little skinny slot mags and tires all around. The guys had used it to tow his boat. By Mirror Lake in Federal Way, WA.

early 80's, in Bellevue Wa, the local K Mart parking lot served as a little place to put cars up for sale.  I was in 9th grade, or maybe 10th, a black on black 68 383 Charger shows up one day.  I call the owner, $800.  Yeah, may as well have been $10,000

About 4 to 5 months ago I go through a craiglist search program that searches all cities within a state with a single click on the word chargers. Well Long story short there was a 1968 Charger in there for 2500 bucks!!! YES 2500 BUCKS!!!! I found it roughly midnight my time and it was in cali. Well come morning its 9am my time and roughly 10am cali time I call the lady up thinking it was a mistake.

Well get this it was a old woman I asked about her 1968 charger she said she sold it this morning and I wanted to confirm the price she said 2500 bucks. I asked if it ran she said YES it did, I asked what engine and was it in it she told me 318. She said her husband died 6 months ago and he drove it on weekends only and now its sitting in there and he is the original owner!!!! She said it was always garaged!!!!

YES that is the one that got away for me!!!!  A 1968 charger oringial with original owner just sitting in the garage for a fcking 2500 dollars!!!!  I know the folks who bought it I gaurentee turned around and flipped it!!!!

It's all good.

I do have a story to get this thread back on track.

About ten years ago I didn't bid high enough on an original Charger watercolor that was used as a proof for advertising brochures.  I still kick myself......it went for about $180, I think.

This ad pic is close to what it looked like.......the original watercolor would have been sweet to have.

charger_fan_4ever

In 5 years I will probably come back and post that I regret not buying this 1969 C500. Maybe not though cause the no tag or B/S makes me gun shy to invest big $$.

http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,89146.0.html

Always wanted a C500 but I'm deep into my 70 R/T. Wouldn't be worth it to sell my 70 now and the 500 needs a lot of work. Once my 70 is done I may try to sell it and put some extra cash to get a turn key 500 or get a super solid complete project for more than the $17k asking price
