Holy Ugly ass spoiler batman.

My guess tin sheetmetal trunkpan and lots of cheese, but won't know untill you see it.

duanesterrr

Thanks guys.  I will let you know what I find out and will post any more pictures I can get.

skip68

A sunroof has been installed, bondo in lower quarters, filler of some kind in the trunk, custom interior ect. ect.   The guy just picked it up with his son so he knows nothing about it really.   Definitely worth looking at.   :2thumbs:

Thanks... I am taking you gave him a call (or either have a 6th sense about these charger deals... either is possible  :smilielol: ) did you get a VIN?  I am located in NE so its a 7 hr drive to check it out.  I have a friend in Denver but its a "she" who is not mechanically inclined so I am not sure how much info I could glean from her taking a look at it.  I will give the guy a call and get some more info hopefully.

nvrbdn

definately worth a look. kinda vague on the description. motivated seller might want it out bad enough to  :shruggy:  keep us posted if you get it checked out.

Pics are all taken 20 feet away :S

Ask for some pictures of the underneath, torsion bar member, rear rails, trunk pan, cowl.
That will give you an idea if you even want to make a road trip. I've learned now that (not only chagers) if the seller won't give any pics of the underneath ect there is a reason. I won't travel more than an hour to look at a car if they can't poney up some pictures of requested areas.

So I called and got the same story Skip got.  Car sat on the side of a garage for years and he would always pass by.  He bought the car with the intention to resell it and has had it for 3 days.  Its an XP 318 car originally.  His son drove it up and down the block a few times.

He said it doesn't sound great cause it has a small exhaust (1 1/2 or 2").  Interior is custom but I have no idea what it looks like.  Dash was painted.  Bondo cracking on quarters.  Trunk probably needs to be replaced.  Some rust on rockers.  Frame and floor is solid.  It does have an moonroof which I am assuming is aftermarket.  Motor and transmission are stock.

I stopped by the bank and have the $.  If it is still for sale on Saturday I am going to check it out.  I doubt it will still be available as he said the phone has been ringing off the hook.  People are driving from California and Wyoming right now to look at it.  There is probably a 5% chance I buy it so my hopes aren't too high.

I asked for more pics and he said he would email them to me.  I will post them up once I get them.  Why can't cars ever come up for sale in MY area??  :shruggy:

Something you might want to consider is, if it IS still for sale by then that you already know it's over priced for its condition.  14hrs to see a car is a long day without pics..

Don't get discouraged, I was looking for close to 2 yrs before I found my car 3hrs from me.  :yesnod:

I agree if I don't get any pics no way I am going.  I need some good pics.  Then I need good feedback from you folks... your opinions carry a lot of water as this isn't your first time around the block buying a mopar.  Lastly, it has to be still for sale on Saturday.

Just playing the waiting game now and if its a couple year waiting game I am fine with that.

Sounds like a $3-5k project that is driveable. I say this because it sounds like it needs as much work as a project in a box. Actually more work cause you would have to strip off all the years or bondo and backyard repairs and start over.

1974dodgecharger

After what you heard it seem sthe car might be worth only 8k or so and like someone else said another 3k into the car and you will have a great ride. I still think its a great deal even with the work needed great as in 8k or so though.

duanesterrr

Hmm... just checked the link again and it has been deleted.  I never even received the pictures he said he would send to me.  I am thinking it was sold.

I had a 70 Challenger that had one of those moonroofs people use to install back in the Eighties. Cost me $500 to just to have the roof patched not including the vinyl top or headliner. The hardest part was that the bodyshop had a hard time matching the metal to conform to the top arch of the roof, so there was a lot of bondo in it to smoth it over. Fortunately I had a vinyl top car to cover over all the work. Then you have to redo the headliner or paint the top to match. Just something to consider.

yeah thats a nice one for sure for extra 5k over the other guys this black one to me is a runner off the bat once you bleed the brakes. Man I need a little more money for that black one.  :brickwall:

Ad says it's a Dark Metallic green that looks black in different lighting.  Looks to have a black interior though.

Front marker lights are not in the car either so there is some wiring that will need to be competed as well.

Good luck!

Yea that is a sweet car.  I need to subscribe so I get auto-messages for sure.  Last time I had checked that car was 18k which was too high for me.

Seller is going to post some more pictures over the weekend so I will have to see what those look like.
