So who is all going?  How about we meet up and have lunch or a small get together?  This will be my first time going there, so if anyone knows the area really well, let me know what is a good place to eat.  I will give them a call and reserve a table(s) for us if this sounds like a good idea.

Well, I'll be going for at least part of the meet, since I have the least amount to travel to get there.:)  I still have research work that I need to do during the week so time can be tight during the day hours (I will try to sneek away).  I will probably be one of the first ones at the gate on early day and go later on in the evening as well as much of the saturday time.  I spent probably $400 last year for about $1200 worth of parts.  If you want good places to eat, let me know what you are looking for and I can give you my suggestions (but I don't want to sound like a commercial for each place).  If you want a 60s diner, we have one nearby the 63 highway (called the 63 Diner- good shakes and I recommend the loaded chedder burger-had it for lunch).  I know were to get the best prime rib in town on Saturday night (the Colliseum downtown but is usually busy with college crowd).  There are quite a few steak places, but Long Horn (out by super Walmart) has good steaks and great bread, but I haven't tried the new Lone Star.  One of the best meal places is the Gibson Girls cafe, where you can get an all you can eat soup bar added to your meal for $.99.  They have really good sandwiches in the $5 range, the french dip is highly recommended by me.  It is a little out of the way, but worth it.  I unfortunately don't have my Mopars here to show (they are stored out of state in a much more secure location than here), so I only have pictures that I can show.  That being said, please don't kid me too much when I show up in an Iroc Camaro..........

It's a long drive for me so I've got hotel reservations at the Best Western in I-70.  A bunch of Rumble bee owners are talking about getting together, possibly with other mopar owners, at the new Hooters for lunch Saturday.  I plan to drive the Bee down.  If not the Bee, something else with Minnesota license plates.

RD,
When you guys decide on a place, let us know. We're staying at the Travellodge off I-70. I'm bringing some flat e-body hoods for Gene Gregory and picking up a hood or my superbird clone.

okay all, its 12pm on saturday at longhorn steakhouse there in columbia.  hopefully chad will be around to direct us to the place without any of us getting lost.

next thing on the agenda, when and where to meet in order to convoy out there.  I have not been to the meet in the past, so you veterans will have to chime in for some guidance on this one.

thanks

Noon will rule allot of the vendors out.  I for one, won't be able to go, since my parts will still be up for sale at that time.

Yeah, I plan to be there most of the day on Saturday (if I can escape work long enough ;)).  This year, I have to limit myself to items that will fit in the Camaro as my truck is currently DOA due to a broken cooling system problem (it will force me to spend less $ that way).  I was thinking on bringing some of my spare Charger parts to sell (I need the storage space to work on my Corvette), but that is not going to happen now......  The swapmeet is at the fairgrounds which is actually north of Columbia on highway 63 a few miles.  You have to exit off of Hwy. 63 to the right, make a left hand turn, go over the overpass and make a right hand turn at the stop sign.  From there, it is only about a hundred yards to the turnoff on the left side entrance.  I will warn you that parking can be tight there and can be alot of mud if it rains.  Parking away from the buildings is usually a hassle, but you can get out much easier then the people who are packed in like sardines near the front.  I had forgotten to mention Hooters, as they had just opened two weeks ago.  To get to Longhorn Steakhouse, you simply go south on Hwy. 63 until you reach the exit that has a large Super Wal-Mart, Lowe's, Sam's Club, off to the right side.  It is slightly passed the intersection with I-70.  I will try to bring maps when I am at the meet.  You can't miss me, I am usually wearing a black Mopar car t-shirt with black pants and a leather jacket.

MOPARHOUND-  Good to see that you will be there again this year.  They had an indoor car show there last weekend and it was good that it was inside.  The main building was filled side by side with cars up to 5 deep.  I did not know about it until last Saturday.  One of the cars was a triple black 1970 Charger SE 383-4bbl., 4-speed with a sunroof (I did not get the fender tag info written down, but the guy will probably be at the swapmeet).  I have been after that guy to register his car with DCR for the past three years.  Have you seen it before?

hey hooked (and other vendors) what is a good time.  I called the place today and they do not make reservations, all we have to do is call an hour ahead of schedule to secure a large enough table.  y'all let me know your schedules and we can hammer something out.  I am a master of logistics.

I was thinking sometime Friday evening would work.  Either way, you won't be able to make everybody happy, so just go with the time that most people can make happen.

hotrod98

Jamey,
We could make it Friday evening, but we're leaving mid-day Saturday. You might plan on two gatherings that might prevent leaving anyone out. Just a thought.
BTW, are you going to have a booth where we can get together at the swap meet? If so, do the banner thing like Topeka. I'm not planning to bring anything up for sale other than some flat hoods for Gene Gregory.

larry, sure wont.  i was kinda hoping to piggy back off someone and give them a sublease fee :D hehe  hooked you listening?  i may bring up some stuff, but I doubt it.  if i do, it will be little shit.  I may print a poster and have a sign in, so we all know who is there if that is alright?  does that sound like  a plan?

Friday evening sounds like a plan for me too!  8pm sound good?

I think that 8:00 would be good since the vendors would be able to be there as well. Just pick a place. With the wives being there, Hooters might not be the best choice. My wife wouldn't care, but others might. Just a thought. We'll go with the flow.

I take it then 8:00 pm Friday to Long Horn (I was wrong in calling it Lone Star, similar place back home in Kansas) for steak.  As for a place to meet at the fairgrounds.......

If you want, we could also do a lunch party on Saturday, but someone needs to decide where........

Sounds good.  The thing we will have to watch out for is waiting time at both Long Horn (due to Friday night crowds) and 63 Diner (it is a rather small place to take a huge crowd)......

An update......

I met RD and his friend outside the building at 7:30pm.  I did not know they were going to close the place up at 7 today.  We went to Long Horn but it was an hour wait....  Had good steaks and talked quite abit about mopars and we even knew some of the same mopar people over in Kansas - that was cool....  As for the friday swapmeet, I did get three 69 Charger headrests for $120.  The vinyl is cracked on each, but I have a way to fix that.  Those are becoming hard to find anymore.  Chrome supports are not pitted, just light surface rust that cleaned off.  There were lots of good parts for sale there today, but I am mostly holding out for tomarrow.  There was a restored 69 Charger grille for $1250 and a 70 Cuda grille (did not ask)...  There are some Charger fenders there, but they will probably be high.  I don't need any so I forgot to ask for the prices.  I am looking at a blower setup for a 440 near the back, but you will have to go early if you want to beat me.  I also found some parts for the 66 HP2.........

Swap meet was better than expected.

Sold 4 hoods to Gene Gregory
Picked up 70 Coronet Super Bee Power bulge hood for my superbird clone from Mike Muenz (R.M. Mobarn)
69 Runner left fender minor dent, minor rust spot $120.00
69 Runner left door, straight no rust $100
69 Runner hood hinges, perfect $40
70 Coronet turn signals very nice with perfect lenses $60
72 Charger taillamp lenses very nice no cracks $30

Chad,
That was about the nicest 70 coronet standard hood that I've seen. That guy has several 70 power bulge hoods as well. Just didn't bring any of them. I almost bought your hood just to have around.
I saw a lot of nice stuff and some of it was decently priced. There was a lot of race stuff which I no longer have a use for. I thought that the $15 entry for Friday was too high, especially since I didn't buy anything on Friday.
A friend of mine is Greg Garner, a fellow Arkansan. He's the guy that converts the tachs and clocks to modern internals. He had a booth setup and was repairing and selling tachs and I have to say that I'm impressed. His electronics makes those old tachs work better than new.

Still didn't find a bulge hood for my 74 charger.

The 70 Challenger funny car reminded me of my Dickie Harrell 69 funny car that I owned in the mid 70's. Was very nice car, but it wasn't for sale. Darn !

I loved the 67 belvedere station wagon. I have got to get me one of those some day. I would probably drive it more than my 71 cuda. It was a 6 cyl but was a very nice car. If I had it, I would probably have to buy a 5.7 hemi 5 speed automatic pull out for it.

I'll probably go next year

Too late cudahob, it was Friday and Saturday, 3rd and 4th.

Bought a bunch of little items, less than $20 each.  Walked around 3 hours till my feet hurt, making several laps around the building.  Had a great time.  The restored 69 Charger grille (meaning the whole 9 yards, lights, buckets, brackets etc.)  sold for $1,000 and 3 used wood grain steering wheels.  The guy specializes in 68 and 69 Charger grille restoration, wood grain wheel restoration, among other things.  Will post his contact info if I can find it.

A guy showed up at noon when I was leaving with a 68 Road Runner Auto Console car less engine and trans for $1,800.

Someone gave $12,500 for an original but rusty 68 Road Runner 4 speed Bench car that was on the swap meet floor, unreal.  They had a question mark on it whether it had 11,000 miles or 111,000miles.  Judging by the duct tape on the driver's side of the bench seat, and the rear driver's side spring hangar about to come through the trunk floor it was 111,000 miles.

Wish I could have stayed longer RD, and Chad L. Mcgee.  I got home at 2 am  Sunday morning :icon_smile_tongue:  :icon_smile_tongue: :icon_smile_tongue:.

Had a bigger fish to fry later that day. :icon_smile_cool: :o :D :D :D :2thumbs:  :scratchchin: :boogie: :boogie:  :icon_smile_wink: :icon_smile_wink:
