No worries Charge69 and thanks! We don't drive our car in the rain etc either......I worked too hard on it to get it right. We go to several shows every year and the weekend drives too but it still takes time to keep it up and purdy.  :icon_smile_cool:  Speaking of our cars, what's going with yours?

Regular is $4.25 around here. Damn.
FLY NAVY/Marine Corps or take the bus!

Gas is going up here too but not THAT high! I think regular is about $3.60 a gallon here, not that mine will ever run on that stuff! I probably will use a mixture of racing gas and premium to run it when I take it out but, hope to get it to run on just pump-grade premium without pinging. It is a street-hemi but when i had to bore it a little (30 thousandths over) to clean it up, I put custom JE forged pistons in it and had it speced to 11 to 1 compression or as close as they could get. It was dynoed with pump premium with just a little race gas in it and it was fine at 32* advance.

Mine is off the rotisserie, painted with R6 red acrylic enamel, motor and transmission (727) rebuilt and reinstalled, Rearend is restored and installed back on the car, and most parts (about 6k in parts in my garage to be delivered to my restorer's place) including a complete new white interior bought and ready and waiting to be installed soon. Me and my restorer just have a couple of months worth of work left to do to get it back on the road.

I just haven't been posting pics as I haven't taken as many as I should have during the resto but it will be ready soon. Thanks for asking and I will try to get some photos of the progress on the old gal up here.

. it cost around 50 bucks to take her out for the day....

Same here.................but what a pleasure!   :drive:

Plus its still cheaper than going to a strip club and she (the car) comes home with you every time!  Although in the long run with all the resto/repairs for the car, the stripper might be the cheaper choice.

But not nearly as satisfying.  :icon_smile_wink:

Which one is more satisfying?  Driving the charger or the stripper?    :smilielol:

Some good comments on this thread.  :yesnod:

I do believe as well that collector car prices are driven by the economy. And, the economy is definitely affected by gas prices, among other things. But, I'm not really so sure how gas prices affect the price of collector cars directly. They are more affected indirectly due to the economy.

I would tend to think anyone who is in the market for a '60s/'70s musclecar is not really concerned with gas mileage. "Gee, this 454 Chevelle is really bitchin', but ooooo, that 350 2bbl Malibu will get better mileage." Really?
Sucking large amounts of gas in a musclecar is expected.

I guess if gas gets too expensive, I'll drive it less and wax it more.  It's still a hobby.
:yesnod:   :iagree:

What's this now about a stripper needing a ride??   :scratchchin:

I ran the pump the other day for my wife's SUV and @ $125.00, it shut off... When I started the truck, it was @ 3/4 tank  :o

Yeh, most places have a limit as to how much you can get at once.  A couple years ago when gas spiked to the $4/gal mark here in Jersey, they had the limit at $75.  Shortly there after, they raised it up to $100.
