What do you guys think about a color change on a sorta low mileage(42K) nicely restored car with all the documents and numbers?

After seeing the myth thread I instantly fell in love with the FK5 Bird  :faint: and would love to change my OH-SO-COMMON Green to that, But Im affraid I would kill any future value without tearing it apart to color change it back. I have the tag and sheet, matching numbers everywhere, and about 95% original metal( Thats for you Troy!  :poke:)
wingless now, but still around.

Being that I still got you at 100% original metal, next coffee break,,, it's on you....  :nana:

Man, you have to think long and hard on this one...............
1. Are you going to keep the car for a long time and not think of it as an investment?
2. Do you really love the Burnt Orange? ( I love that color, especially on a '70 Charger)
3. Finally, put into the equation that "Life is too short, enjoy yourself"..........

I think it is the best color on a Bird.....

69 DAYTONA

...as others said...if you plan to keep the car forever and diminished value is of little importance, go for it

DAY CLONA

While a Superbird in just about any color is a "cool" ride,...Black, or Burnt Orange are just about the 2 sharpist colors to have one in.. IMHO, original or not, IMHO Burnt Orange with a Burnt Orange interior would be the way I'd go if building one,...No offense, but the Lime, or Orange Superbirds are a bit "played"..IMHO

Aero426

Green Superbirds are always in demand.    It's a good color.     I also really like FK5, but I would hesitate to change an already nice Bird of any color.

WINGIN IT

I would definitely be hesistant to color change a number's matching documented Superbird, ESPECIALLY with a color only die-hard fans would like.

I'd buy a Burnt Orange Bird over any other color without a second thought. Then again, if you're concerned about investments, value, or whatever, don't worry about what I think because I don't think any car is worth more than a house.  :Twocents:

15-20 +++  years ago  i would of said  nooooo , paint it as per fender tag color code  :yesnod:
this train of thought still holds true today , with any mopar   :Twocents: :scratchchin:
but perhaps as i've got older  , realised life is too short ! paint it what ever color  you want & what ever makes you happy!  :yesnod: as Long as  its not an unrestored survivor car !!
although i would have a hard time doing that to a already restored car thats numbers matching & stuff  , but a rotted out wreck of a  body shell with every thing missing , &  with the local AMD supplier as your new best buddy ,  is another matter !
think i know what i'm trying to say , but just read this back & it sounds a bit confusing  :-\

I like the idea, and I LOVE the FK5 bird.  BUT...

I know you've had the car for a long time.  I tossed around the idea of painting the B5 car a different color-or at least update it to the new B5 on the Challenger.  In the end, we were just so used to having it B5 we redid it that way.

also, consider all of the idiots that will come up to you at car shows and tell you about the green one that 'looked just like this one' that used to be in the area.  that alone would make me paint it green again

Oh, and team green sucks  :poke:

Its your car, do what you want to.  However, if it were ME, and it was a numbers matching car with paperwork, I would paint it back to what it was born with originally.  No need to change anything that is that complete already.  Repainting it any other color would be a slap in the face to the car since it has survived all these years with all of its original born with stuff.

Except the engine compartment, trunk, underside, and door jambs will still be lime green.

I wouldn't personally change the color - even though I love that color and think it would look awesome on a Bird. Doing major changes like that is better for clones or cars that had lots of repair and/or are missing tags and documentation.
