Not only have I never seen anything like this, I've never heard of it till now...

I have a place out near my shop where I park my vehicles when I'm not driving them. Every winter I park my summer cars there and during the summer I park my winter vehicles there. Since I have a snow plow on my Suburban, I've been driving a pickup I bought this last fall. I haven't had to jump start a vehicle in years, Till now.

3 times now I've left the suburban sit for a couple weeks at a time without starting and each time the battery is dead. It won't even buzz when I put the key in the ignition. I've checked for a drain and cant find anything. My Dad bought a newer car and parked his old beater out next to my suburban, and a week later the battery was dead. My brother parked his 08 Chevy pickup out there and drove dads old beater for a week and same thing, the battery was dead in his truck.

We can charge the battery in all of them and drive them daily and they stay charged. If I take my suburban home it will stay charged for weeks at a time, same with my brothers truck and dads old winter beater. If we park them other places the batteries will stay up.  I haven't noticed anything else weird happening... No couches vibrating or anything else.

Is it possible that maybe there is a magnetic field that just "popped up" and causing this? Is there any way to test to see if there is a magnetic field present?

Yes. And do not step into that time/space portal or we'll never see you again.  :pity:

Do any of these vehicles have a remote? Such as for an alarm or something of that sort. I have read before that random signals on the same frequency can make a car with a remote believe the remote is being activated for a short period causing a drain.

Actually, all 3 have remote starters on them. Someone suggested that but I didn't think that would be the problem since I can move the vehicles to a different location and the problem goes away.

Are you saying that maybe a random signal from another location or source might be the culprit?

Yeah, I read an article where a guy was having the same problem. Someone suggested this theory so he got a meter to test for signals and found a signal at the same frequency as his remote was being generated from somewhere. The signal would cause the "computer" to boot up temporarily every minute or so. It was enough that it would drain the battery in the vehicle over a few months.

As someone suggested just take a fully charged battery outside of a car or even just a fully charged battery in a vehicle that doesn't have any "computer" systems to it and see if the battery stays charged. If it does then you foun your problem. If not then I agree with the others on a ghost.

Interesting link... Maybe I should try just disconnecting the battery in one or two of them to see if they stay up. There are switches in the remote starts that will disable them too. Maybe I should just try that on one and disconnect the battery on another one and see what happens.

I assume these are replacement batteries. Also, anytime you "Add" things like Remote starters, elctronic crap, hitch wiring, even snow plows, you are adding a certain amount of aditional drainage to the battery.

With that said, Aftermarket batteries today don't have the plates in 'em that the older batteries did (Lead). Most have almost half with the rest filled with Electrolite/water (Acid) so the wieght is the same. You think your buying a good battery, when most begin with half the stuff the older ones did.

Don't know bout the "Couch" deal, but We see this ALOT with cheaper batteries. People look at an Interstate battery that costs $110.00 and will go for that $45.00 POS at Wally World everytime, then complain the first cold snap we get about it being dead.

Everything I own is at least 12 years old so yeah they all have replacement batteries. Not sure about the battery in my brothers truck.

It's not the trailer brakes or the snow plow because none of that stuff gets juice till the key powers on so nothing additional "should be" draining the battery. Everything that I've added goes through relays. Besides we're talking about 3 different vehicles.

I'm going to park two of them back over there and disconnect the battery on one and just shut down the remote start on another and see what happens.
