Recently found a 66 charger cant post pics since its off another hard drive, but here are some info on it.

-repaitned by maaco
-boat gas tank in the spare tire trunk area holds 7 gallons only.
-interios is shot will have to redo.

the good:
-it runs
-person fixed thet ranny leak
-no rust (so its claimed)
-440 engine
-auto

The person wants 5k for it and wont go lower.....Im willing to do 4k. Curious is this a low ball if I did offer him this? I think I can get some pics uploaded.

If maako painted it, it'll probably need a repaint soon.

there are a few maaco's around here, one of them is highly recomended and does a great paint job. its all in who runs the shop. but a 66 with no rust 440 auto,no rust, new paint.doesnt sound bad. what about the chrome, grill and tail light lense?

got some pics here it does not seem bad, but has no interior and the gas tank is a turn off how it just sits in there, but the paint job dont look bad at all with the camera he took. Then again cameras pics always look good on computer....

Daytona R/T SE

66/67 interior parts are made of unobtainium.

Replacing the interior will be VERY expensive. :Twocents:

Lots of hard to find trim and parts missing... ::)

No 440 in a Charger in '66, so it's been swapped in...

$5K?

Walk away...

Well that I did not know about the finding pieces for the interior thanks guys on the info. Personally I always wanted another first gen charger, then went to 2nd gen now at 3rd gen. As im always looking to change chargers in general though...until I can settle for one Im in love with.

if one wanted this car what would you guys think would be fair in price? Like i said earlier I said 4k, but have not offered just yet though he did say firm and I know as humans we always willing to budge.

Maybe the seller feels buried and "needs" $5000 to feel good about selling it for that price.
Although not a fan of the 66-67 cars, a solid body with a running 440 isn't a car I'd just walk away from. If this is a car that you have wanted for a long time and intend to keep for many years, why not bite the bullet and pay the man? Think of the car as a long term vacation instead of a ONE time expense. Yeah, the interiors are chock full of unique parts specific to THIS car, and finding all of it may take time. Have you considered the cost of rust repair/parts replacement/bodywork and paint AFTER finding a builder car? Its certainly far more that the $5000 here. If you aren't spending rent money here, I say do it and don't regret it.

yeah the person said he has 5k alerady into it im assuming he wants 5k back essentially.

It also depends on what you want to do with it.  If you don't need the stock interior (ala drag race), then having to replace it all isn't that bad.

Then again, the interior is one of the things that make these cars so cool...

It looks like a lot of the exterior trim is missing as well.  These parts are not cheaply replaced either.

As stated the interior is the coolest part of this model :Twocents: I had a 67 and sold it because I could not find any parts or if I did they wanted Ft. knox and some change for it.  If you could find a rust bucket with a complete interior at a good price it could be a bargain.  I think you could find a complete car in the 10k range in this economy and you will have more than that into piecing that one together.  Again just  :Twocents:

Like a couple of others have said, without a cheap parts car, it would be very expensive to replace what's missing.  I have a 67 Charger, and those of us who own first generation Chargers can tell you that few repro parts are out there.....

From what I can see in the photos at least the floorpan & trunk looks very solid.  :yesnod:   That's promising.

Two other areas to look at are the condition of the grille and the tail light. Tail light lenses are made repro, but are costly. The grille and components are also hard to come by. Do the headlights/actuators work?

Depending on what you really want to do with the car, and with the hopefulness that the body/paint are good, you could easily sink another 7-8 grand minimum in the car just looking at those photos, and doing the work yourself. (Just a ballpark guess). But, you'd have a cool car at a fraction of the cost of a complete resto. Even if you sank another $10K into it you'd be at $15K, still less than if you started from nothing.
What is the condition of the car mechanically?? Other than it runs & the trans doesn't leak?  :shruggy:

You might want to take a look at this car in person to really see the condition of the body & paint. Could be cardboard & chicken wire under that black paint for all you know just by looking at those photos.
