This is one of those trivial issues I've wondered about. I did a search but came up empty. Regarding the chrome roof trim under the Charger script like in the picture below. Obviously all vinyl top cars have it. Some smooth top car have it and others (like mine) have none at all. Can someone tell me why the smooth top cars came either way? Was it an option? R/Ts only? What percentage of cars? '68, '69, '70 too? It drives me crazy because it's a lot like the bumperette or black door button issue except this time, I have no clue. Thanks.

I think it's just vinyl top cars that have had the vinyl removed.  That or the just added the trim later on.

:iagree: :yesnod: :coolgleamA: :2thumbs:

only  vinyl top cars have that stainless trim ,  & if no top ! but   has trim  it was an original vinyl top car &  who ever removed the top for reasons known to him self , decided not to weld up the holes !! just put the trim back

second generation chargers that were not coded for a vinyl top never had the  trim

OK, thanks guys. That certainly explains it. Must be a lot of cars out there with the vinyl removed. I think the cars look just as good with or without the trim.

I have a set of vinyl roof trim ( '67 style) for my first Gen. ( no vinyl roof) but trim will be going on when I am ready. I like the looks of the extra chrome.
