Head light adjusters - WTF

Well after breaking about half of them while installing. I said screw it . Just gave up and just used the 72-74 style .

I tried to use the right ones.

yea, I know the screw is in wrong. I took them out before installing them.

Got 2 in , then proceded to break the next 4.
Put the insert over the hole it goes in and smaking it with a plastic hammer, snapped 2 more.
I tried putting the metal clip in 1st then the plastic piece, broke another one, then tried just pushing them in softly, broke another one.

I gave up and went with the plastic 72 style. as once the grille is in the car most people will never see them anyway.

The grill in this car is trying it's best to get the best of me ( thats a UPS rant / long story for another day)

Yes I agree, I bought the same ones at Carlisle, Counldn't get them to snap in right.      Threw them away and found some off another car.
More waisted money on cheap repro's.....

Yep they are a royal pain. The key is putting the metal part in first. Once I figured that out I did them all without breaking them. I guess I've got the magic touch

i removed all my original ones , cleaned them up  put them back ok  , did not break any ,  but think/sure i warmed the plastic up a little with a hair dryer or hot air gun  , as the plastic look brittle , & thought these will snap , ((((   remove the screw  , carefully prise out plastic part , then the metal cage ,  re fitting  is oppsite way ))  but can't remember exactly this was over 10 years ago

yeah those were a challenge for me as well....figured out the originals though & was able to reuse all of them

Those little things are tricky!!! 

I was able to install all of them with no problem. It's like a little puzzle. Yes, the screws come installed backwards, you need to reverse them. I also like to take an awl & spread the clip out a little where it snaps over the white plastic insert (pry gently on the little round hole spreading that part of the clip a bit). I install them as an assembly, with the screw installed using it as a little lever to snap it into place. The plastic insert is just slightly inserted in the metal clip.
The metal clip get installed by inserting one end in the rectangular opening (you'll see each end is differently shaped). Once one side is in, use the screw as a lever to push down & snap the other end in place. Then, push down on the screw snapping the plastic insert into the metal clip. Done. Do the next seven the same way.   

Or, just use the newer style & be done with it.
