Job Interview next week....

Well I finally got the call for a job I applied to almost two years ago - I have a physical fitness test on Monday then a interview Thursday next week (13th and 16th) -

I'm not worried too much - the physical fitness test isn't too difficult but when you're finally getting in shape after years of obesity it is daunting. I'm just glad I went on my diet when I did otherwise I would have to pass this opportunity up. Fitness test = pushups, sit ups, 50lb repetitive crate lift, shuttle step line test, and a "step" test where you step up on a 12" platform over and over for 5 minutes....     at a beat of 120 beats per minute.  Nothing all that challenging but still have me a little worried.

So, If I get selected for the job it's off to Georgia for FLETC (5 months)   :2thumbs:

P.S. any of you guys have to take a polygraph before?  I'll have to - that's got me more worried than anything else   :brickwall:

2013 Dodge Challenger R/T - 5.7L Hemi / 6-speed / 3.73 Limited Slip

1973 Dodge Challenger Rallye - 340 / A-518 / 3.23 Sure Grip

Good luck.
Let us know how the interview turns out.

Wow, 2yrs ago... that's some slow HR dept.  :P

Good luck!  Never hurts to sit down a few days before and write down a bunch of questions you would ask if you were the interviewer and then take the time to write out the answers that you would give. Sounds stupid but you get the opportunity to review what you want to say and how you want to say it so that you can be clear and concise in the interview rather than fumbling around for the "right words". Think of the questions that you want them to answer as well.  :2thumbs:

Never had to take a polygraph before.  :shruggy:

Last polygraph test I took was over 30 years ago.  I'm sure things have changed a bit since then, but the fool, I mean the employer, hired me anyway.

Is the training you'll receive at Brunswick, Ga.? Reason I ask is that was my first stateside duty station when it's was NAS Glynco. They closed the base and my Squadron was moved to NAS P-Cola.
Anyway, you WILL get this job.........believe it because I do. Were watching your "6" so take some names and kick some ass. :2thumbs:

The training center is the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) - it is about 6 miles north of Brunswick, GA just East off Highway 95 ---  So probably very close to where you were stationed.  EDIT: FLETC is located on the old NAS Glynco

I hope I smoke the fitness test and interview - the 5 months in GA during the summer does not sound too appealing though.  :shruggy:

Yeah - 2 year wait...    that's the federal government for you during the cutbacks and what not

5 Months in GA during the summer heat is NOT appealing.. But, look on the bright side, if you survive that you'll survive just about anything.

Good luck , and congratulations!

Training in GA? You can speak 'southern' I hope? :smilielol:

The heat can be brutal sometimes.........well, most of the time. June through Sept is usually the worst.

Habla Espanol?  Long story short - no.

Customs and Border Protection gets divided into several groups - Border Patrol requires all agents to speak spanish. Customs agents are only required to speak spanish when stationed along the southern border and Puerto Rico. I will be stationed somewhere in the Western region to I will not need to speak Spanish. However, I do speak a little bit (4 years of Spanish in high school) along with about as much Italian.    :2thumbs:
