'68 Charger, converted from an automatic to a four speed.  I used the speedometer pinion gear and adapter from the automatic, and installed it into the four speed.  The adapeter can be installed and rotated four different ways, depending on what the gear count is.  One is supposed to align marks on the adapter, to a mark on the tail housing.

What does the mark on the tail housing look like?  Is it a casting feature (like a bump or dot, maybe an arrow or line?) or is it a stamped in feature (like punchmarks?)?  Does anybody have a photo of the index mark on the tail housing?  Thanks!

Cast in. I think it's just a dot - but may be a pointer looking thing. If I get to the garage tonight I'll shoot a picture.

Very cool Troy, I'm guessing the 'mark' is the depression in the tail housing, just below the tick mark, with the numbers 26-31 driectly above?  Thanks for the picture!!

Yes, that's the one. It's actually raised but the angle makes it look indented. I had another picture but my computer at home died last Thursday and I haven't been able to access the other pictures I took.
