Turn signal cam

Can the turn signal cam be bad even if it looks to be ok?  When I move the turn signal lever up it iwll cancel as soon as I turn the wheel, it's fine when I move the lever down, it won't cancel until I have made the turn and straighten out the wheels.  I tried taking only left turns but it makes for very complicated routes!

When I removed the steering wheel the cam was intact and not brittle, can it be bad regardless?  I have no clue what else would be going on.

has it always done this ?? or just started doing it ?   can you get a picture of the turn signal switch in the top of the column ?   also a picture of the back of the steering wheel & the position of the cam ??
with the wheel straight , the cancling cam should be 9 oclock !

I can't get to the car for a while so I can't take a picture.  I do have the steering wheel at home.  It may be as simple as repositioning the cam?  That'd be nice.

Hey tan top, I have a few pictures of the signal cam but they're not the greatest, I was focusing on the cluster.

Does this look alright?

I don't have pics of the back of the steering wheel but it has one peg if that matters, nothing seems to be broken.  The copper ring has a small dimple in it but this is just contact for the horn right?  That one works.

the snap ring on the rear of the steering wheel is probably out of position , so it cancels to quickly one way & to slowly the other way , the pin on the snap ring should be approx 3 o clock position  , 9 o clock looking at the rear of the wheel

Btw, you still have that blue Charger?  Emily wants to see it so if you have a link with pics please post!

turn signal switch looks ok from what i'm seeing , yep copper ring just for horn  ,  dimple or damage just remove the cancling cam spring & tap it flat if you want !! ,  thought these were solid copper , but the one i have on  a spare  S81 wheel , was /is  copper plated steel

Leave it to me to make things worse than they were before....

Apparently the black wire for the horn was not routed as before when I put the steering wheel back  on and it has lost some insulation.  How is it supposed to be routed?

As far as the cam goes, first it would cancel too early turning right, then it quit cancelling turning left.  Took the steering wheel off and yep, bottom cancel leg snapped off, time for a new cam.

Which one of these would be best?

If you decide on a whole new unit and scrap that one can I have the plug off the bottom?

Totally missed your post there buddy!  Alas I'm only replacing the cam, the switch is fine.  I'll keep an eye out for one though.
