Hello everyone,

I wanted to introduce myself as I am going to be a frequent visitor to the site and am looking forward to getting to know you guys/gals and maybe learn a little something as well.  Just for a little background, I am a mid-twenty something engineer who likes to work with his hands.  Unfortunately, most of my job is sitting in front of a computer answering emails.  :brickwall:

My dream car is a 69 Charger.  It goes without saying I spent summers as a kid watching the Dukes.  I am not interested in a General clone but the 69 charger has always stood out as #1.  I always planned on buying the car already restored when I had the $ available.  As of recently as I read through all the "build" threads, I am leaning towards restoring a car the way I want it.

I know restoring a car is a long process.  I am planning on starting the process by taking a few auto body/restoration classes at the local community college.  As I take the classes I will keep my eye out for the charger.  I will be looking to spend around 15k for a running 440 car (manual would be sweeeet but doubt it will happen, in fact I would take a 68 if its a manual).  I really don't think my first restoration can be to drastic of an undertaking.  Of course any advice from you pro's here will definetly be listened too!

Thanks to everyone who puts time into running this site I definetly appreciate it.

Restoring one is a wonderful experience but never ever take it lightly.  It takes determination to see it through.  Whether project or completed always buy the most car you can afford.
Other than that, welcome.

Welcome. At least you know a little bit about how this restoration thing works BEFORE you jump in with both feet.
As stated, good luck on finding your dream car. There are a few here that have built cars from nothing. Watch those threads and ask questions about what you just cannot fully comprehend and I'm sure we'll do what we can to help you.

Welcome to DC.com!!!

You've come to the right place. Lots of helpful members on here.
Sounds like you have a good plan, auto body courses at the local college are VERY helpful. They don't teach everything, but at least are a good start.
A restoration can be a daunting project, but take your time & it will come together.

Be sure to post pics when you find "the one"!  :2thumbs:
