been for sale, a loooooooooong time  :Twocents:

Is it me or are 2nd gen charger prices starting to go crazy again ? I'm seeing a lot of rusty projects for 10k plus again like it was a few years ago. Thought it was just here in canada where everything is always more $$, but i've seen craigslist has quite a few big $$ projects.

Good.
This car was sold many years ago to somebody in Wisconsin. I now am retired and living in Florida.

If you're buying my car then yes, prices are nearly doubling every year.
But if you want to sell me a Charger, then no, they're actually going down in price  :D
Gotta love a '69

theres always ppl who keep asking 2005 prices and will keep their car for sale for years..but the prices have come down a lot, and with the economy theres now a  lot of barn-finds coming to market, that the owners previously wanted to keep as investment but now have seen that the prices are falling, they are now offered for sale-  --- so if youre buying, now its the time to buy.

Crazy asking prices probably, crazy selling prices I don't think so. I have/had been on craigslist for 2 yrs looking as of last fall when I picked mine up and I would have to say no. Every spring (arriving early this year) all the junk comes out with big price tags trying to take advantage of all the freshly released cooped up buyers. Don't forget all the folks that think that piece of junk they picked up during the boon is going to bail them out of financial ruin.  Ebay is filled with junk that isn't getting bid on either.  :Twocents:

Prices are NOWHERE near where they were in the artificial market" of 2006-2008 :Twocents:

I spoke with a gentleman who was in the specialty collector car business for 7 years. The "dealership" he worked for, bought-up cars, patched them together, and doubled - even tripled their money overnight. It was crazy, he said... And the cars were garbage - in his words. He now sells new cars and said he can sleep at night, not selling stuff with hidden problems. :rotz:

In 2009, the bottom fell out of the market and nobody could get credit to buy these cars, or could no longer draw money out of their homes - which often they were now upside-down in... :rotz:

So, where are we today? Banks will loan for people with great credit, but most people have wised-up and are not frivolously over paying.

Take the blue 1969 Charger 383/4 spd. car which has been for sale for months... Not saying anything about the car, as I haven't seen it in person, but the seller has dropped their price from something in the range of $11,000, down to $5,300. In 2006, the car would have been for sale for a week, if even that... The sad reality, is it takes someone with the cash to buy - then have the cash to complete the vehicle. Again, easier to do, 4-6 years ago... :Twocents:

IMO if your buying a project to restore it has to be an R/T to get any decent amount of money back once done. Problem is there isn't much variance in project prices R/T vs no badge. A non badge car with rust issues you'd have to get it pretty much given to you and do all the work yourself to not get in too deep. Badge or not both cost the same amount to restore body wise. In the end though whats a nice non badge worth $25-30k max ? 440 car 35-40k max ?

This is how i see it. In the end if you ever sold, a R/T would be worth ~10k more than a non badge. Considering both were restored correctly not just patched up junk. If there was only $2k difference in price when the cars were bought as projects the guy with the non badge will lose even more of his shirt as he has put the same $$ coin in to restore as the R/T guy and  in the end the non R/T is worth $10k less.

Mind you I didn't buy one to "make money" on it. But it helps me sleep a little better at night knowing in the end I'll have invested roughly what its worth or slightly less. If it was a non badge car i'd be losing my shirt.

Back to the SE posted. What do you guys think its worth ? Rebuilt motor and it looks pretty rust free. Mind you trunk extensions looked chewed so probably lower 1/4's too.

I'd probably pay in the $12k range for it if i was looking for a car.

If I had that car and you offered me $12,000, I'd take it - and RUN for the bank!

I've seen better cars - with #s matching motors, for that price. But it's your money...  :Twocents:

charger_fan_4ever

I'm not buying anything lol. My hands are full with my project. Just shooting the pooh.

I should have rephrased it. Rot free not rust free. Looks like at least surface rust everywhere.

Darkman

At that price, it will still be for sale next year.
Make it idiot proof, and somebody will make a better idiot!

Ghoste

I can't buy it, it's another one of those cars that are only available to "serious" buyers.  I'm likely too silly.

1974dodgecharger

Like everyone has said it will sit I cruise craigslist all the time and saw better cars than his in running condition for cheaper than his 18k.

At 10k or so maybe maybe I would buy it if it ran though.

I bought my 69 in 2006. If I see todays prices of the cars that are priced reasonable I almost cry every time...... :eek2:

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

For people who look to sell (flippers) what they bought between 2006-2010, they are probably looking for tall buildings to leap from... :slap:

But if you bought to keep, I am sure you'll be fine in the long run

When I called and talked with the owner (mind it you was 2 summers ago now) I recall it having a rotted trunk, bondo in the lower quarters, holes in the floors, and the typical rotted rear window. I believe the car was from PA originally.

I am not saying its not a cool car (B3 is sweet), it's just the epitome of a 20k project.

I did buy to keep but "if only I knew..."  If I had waited and saved all the extra cash that I have invested in restoration parts up till now I would have bought myself a nice driver last year instead of a rolling shell back in 2006.

But hey, I'm still lucky to own one and I like to restore cars so one day I'll drive mine the way i like it best because I built it like I want it.

If anyone is actually interested in the car don't let my memory discourage you from calling the seller and getting the real scoop. My memory isn't all that great anymore.  :2thumbs:

:popcrn: :scratchchin:  Apparently or clearly I remain way off center from the typical crowd (again), the worried about selling it later or hobby loss or investment retirement plan  :slap:  If green, gold or bronze would pass at 7k all day long, at the right time in the last several yrs or even now (if was a buyer, I am NOT) I do not think 15k is out there that far & 18k is kinda close to that for a B3 RTSE with title, fender tag), mass rust, if true would sway me away regardless, I am scared of some cars out there.  Honestly hung up on options.  I am sure there are several other B3s out there, but I can't remember another B3RTSE, maybe the registry has some found somewhere, guess I remain a buyer of options :yesnod: :yesnod:.  Discussion is WIW now, ...regardless where it was bought at this moment even at 5K with outstanding resto it would likely not be worth more then 40-60 done IMO, most would be way upside down anyway.

if really good builder B3 RTSE... I like it :Twocents:

I find this color chart interesting. Even though it is "registered" numbers, not "production", I think it gives a rough idea of what is/was popular.
