QuoteAnyone who has tried searching for automotive parts on Ebay has developed eye strain and hatred for the "Fits" feature on ebay! You search for parts for your classic car for example and yet get parts that say they "Fit" your vehicle yet don't. Sellers will say their parts fit EVERY vehicle just so their ads will always come up! This makes more work searching through thousands of these crappy ads just to find the parts that actually do belong to your vehicle!

Well why not sign the petition so we can show Ebay one reason why they are losing business

Done, I hate that feature.

Ive been fighting with ebay since the day that added that feature. Finally someone told me to create an online petition and that maybe it might help persuade Ebay to remove or at least change the way it works.

You can get around this by putting the car in quotes.

For example typing in 1962 Fury brings up nearly 6000 results.  Typing in "1962 Fury" brings it up like it used too.

I find it somewhat useful.   If you get too many results... add more search terms.    Then learn how to sort by price, etc.

If the item is listed as "62 Fury" or "1962 Plymouth Fury" then it won't show up at all.

Your right.  You have to type in "1962 Fury" or "62 Fury" to get to see all 1962 Fury stuff, you do not need to type in Plymouth though. Not really a big deal in my opinion.  You have to do the same same when searching Craigslist, and if I remember correctly E-Bay was like this too before the change.

If I were to bitch about anything with E-Bay would be their fees.  Since joining E-Bay in 1999 the fees have went through the roof, then they get you with huge Paypal fees as well.  However, there is no better place I have found to advertise my RV dealerships inventory.  I sell roughly 7-10 campers a month through E-Bay.

if you go "62 fury" and 1962 doesnt show up or plymouth, thats not a big deal if your cutting all the garbage. i usually only go out so many hours anyway so id just post the 3 different ways and miss the crap. im good with that. :2thumbs:

1995 Ford Cobra SVT#2722

terrible one

I can't stand this either. 9 out of 10 items that come up are some cheap POS accessory that you would get at autozone. Neon lights, cheesy ricer steering wheels, seat covers, and even tools come up because the oh so knowledgeable seller claims that they "fit" a 1968 Charger.  :brickwall:

Perfect example, this listing: 92-05 DODGE VIPER 95-05 NEON SRT CHARGER T3/T4 TURBO
                                         (Fits: 1968 Charger)

WTF?!

oldcarnut

I just type in -fit or - fits after my search term.  Gets rid of most all of it for me  ex: Superbird -fit
You can add -print -art -bolt -whatever you dont want to come up

I hate ebay. It was good up till about 2008 then down hill

bull

I hear about these little text tricks and then promptly forget them when I do a search. The "fits" thing really does give me fits though, if you'll pardon the pun. What I think is funny is when I search "1968 Charger" and merchandise from the 1968 San Diego Chargers shows up. :scratchchin:

What, you mean all this time those screw kits and caliper paints really aren't for my Charger???  :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

Correct.  Petition is a waste of time.    The Bag has a long track record of NOT listening to their users.
Sadly there is no other auction venue who can really compete with them.

Best match sucks?   Too bad.

Must use Pay Pal?   So sad.

21 Day hold on payments?    Sucks to be you.

No neg feedback to buyers?    Go find another sandbox.

Final Value Fee on shipping?   See above.
