spark plugs install and torque wrench on 440

I would like to change my plugs because the car is misfiring and I think the plugs are fouled.  I have a 69 RT with 440 and stock exhaust manifold.
I bought new plugs then realized the clearances are really tight and it seems really difficult to pull them.  But, I found http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,45012.0.html and will try to be creative with a combination of wrenches/sockets.
Now, if I get them pulled, I'm worried about putting them back in correctly.  NGK says torquing them properly is important.  http://www.ngksparkplugs.com/techinfo/spark_plugs/installation.asp.
I don't know how I could fit my torque wrench anywhere near the spark plugs/exhaust manifold and ensure a proper torquing.
Do you torque your plugs when you put them in?  If so, how do you manage to do it with such little clearance?  Also, Dodge and NGK appear to have different torque specs (Dodge is 30 ft lbs; NGK is 18 to 25), which would you follow?

thanks in advance!

I've never worried about using a torque wrench on the plugs.  Like you said, good luck on having room to use one anyway.  I just snug them up until the washer mashes in a little and call it good.  Never had any problems.....

I have installed thousands of spark plugs, never torqued one of them.

Just use a regular 3/8 th's ratchet and you'll be fine.

they have a crushable washer you can feel it , it goes tight& then you can still turn it 1/2 turn more to snug it up

Don't mean to hijack a thread but what do you think of side gapping and indexing plugs, worth while or not?

FLG

I seriously doubt a street car will see any benefit. Maybe those guys on the track that need every single bit of hp they can possibly get.

The way I see it, in the time it takes to pull all the plugs on a 440 and index em, you could install an MSD ignition and coil and gain a lot more.
