Questionmark

Just bought her a couple days ago and I was hoping someone could help me understand the electronics of it.
She is the SXT AWD 3.5 high output v6. standard console. turning the ignition she flashes 4Wdrive and I'm wondering if that is changeable to shift it back to two.

next question is by pushing the trip odometer reset button it cycles through the displays like ambient temperature and trip odometer etc. it also says ECON and then flashed ON every now and then. Is that an engine mode or is it not displaying the economy of that current speed or what?

Welcome to the site.     Just so you know, this site is geared for the Dodge Charger muscle cars...... The old ones like my picture....  Some members here do have newer Chargers but not much info here on the new cars....

Questionmark

I figured it would be mostly the older models. Fact is though a true enthusiast knows as much as he can on the whole spectrum of the object of his affection. I thought this would be an appropriate venue for information

skip68

Charger forums is the place for the new cars I think..   That's going to give you the best answers and info on them.   But, by all means stick around and you may get the fever for an older one also....    :2thumbs:

I always have had a love for the old girls. I'm a sailor however and I'm deployed a lot. I wouldn't feel right keeping a beauty like that in a garage and not letting someone else enjoy it while I was at sea.

Congrats on the new ride.  I really like what they did with this year's makeover.

Things are a heck of lot better around here towards the new Charger owners'.  I was embarrassed to be a part of this community at one time but like I said, it's gotten a lot better.

I'm also active over @ the LX Forums.  That's one of the main forums for the LX owners'.

Gotcha.     Somebody will chime in sooner or later and have the answer for you.    ;)

The 1st thing I bought for my Magnum were the shop manuals.  There's 4 of them & owning them is priceless

Questionmark

thats on the to do list. Nothing beats experience though.

Fred

Have you considered getting in touch or dropping in at a Chrysler dealership? They're experienced and I'm sure would be happy to oblige.  :2thumbs:

Tomorrow is promised to no one.......drive your Charger today.

It's full time 4wd sorta anyway that light is probably a service light I would check with your dealer or read the manual.

ECON is a gas saving light indicating your saving fuel, economy on is good, off is bad or fun if you enjoy driving...

Questionmark

Know how to cycle it to off?

JaxRhapsody

Turn off the economy? Last i checked, it isnt a mode. It just tells you when your gettig good gaz mileage. Unless the new pentastar is like the hemi and runs on 4 or 3 cyclinders up to a certain point.

Push harder on the gas peddle  :smilielol: :smilielol: :smilielol:

seriously; NO you could put tape over the light but why bother?

On a 2012 SRT charger you can turn off the Eco/mds mode by switching to track mode and using the paddle shifter...  Not that it helps you...  It doesn't hurt, like others say its just an indicator that you are driving in a gas friendly manner.

Go to the lxforum and they can answer all sorts of things for you

Not sure if it's the same, but on the new challenger, that light means your in 4 cylinder mode (MDS or whatever), and when you step on the gas, the light goes out and the engine kicks in all 8 cylinders.

I don't think you can turn it off, if that's what it is.  Your engine either has it, or it doesn't from what I have read (manual tranny challengers don't have it, but automatics typically do (according to the build it now site on dodge.com)).

That said, I don't refer to those cars as "chargers" and never will.  The 2011 model looks ALOT better, but still has a nose and door number problem.  I think one or two more re-designs and they might just get it (but I'm not holding my breath).

As was mentioned before, you really should try chargerforums.com or the lx forums, you'll get more love (and probably more answers) over there.  Good luck.

Also, anyone who is ashamed to be on here because of MY or anyone else's opinions about THOSE cars, well, I guess it sucks to live your world.

on my 2011 CHARGER R/T, the ECON light simply means that MDS has kicked in. OBTW my world consists of 2 CHARGERS one 3rd gen and the afore mentioned 2011. My world is pretty good. I consider both of them to be CHARGERS. I love the old Charger and appreciate it for what it WAS, IMO the best group of cars ever to come out of the Big 3. I am not a fan of the cross hair grille on my new one, it can and will be removed, but the current model, with all it's styling cues is well done. yeah it has 4 doors , but I got over that. I can run with the big dogs as far as any Charger is concerned.

Are we still talking cars???  :scratchchin:

Welcome to the site - but it is mostly about the earlier Chargers. I can appreciate them all, especially the new SRT Chargers. There was a gray one on a TV review which was NICE  :drool5:

I'm sorry, apparently you didn't see the comment above from "472 R/T SE" about  being ashamed of being a memebr here because some of us dislike the sedan Dodge is currently selling.  I don't allow a web site to influence my life to that degree.  It's just a web site.

IE, I could care less if your a millionaire with 400 '69 chargers in your garage, if you really allow a web site to make you feel "ashamed", then perhaps it's time to get out of the house for a while, interact with some real humans instead of computer avatars (perhaps go drive some of said chargers.....).

I din't say anything about what car or cars anyone owned. In my opinion, if you allow a web site to make you ashamed, then it does, indeed, suck in your world.

That said, I believe I, a hater, provided an actual answer to the guys question....no waaaayyyyyyy.    :yesnod:

Good day.

472 R/T SE

Dude, you can twist it however you want.  As long as it makes you feel good about yourself, than by all means...

Funny part is, I had words with you before & still tried to help you out cause I felt a dealership wronged you & hit a home run with ya' loading up the deal.  Bad feelings or not, I didn't like the fact they pulled the wool over your eyes.  They do this with every deal hoping to hook someone.  :rotz:

Yeah, I guess my world might suck but compared to you at least I'm man enough to keep a dealership from putting my family into the poor house.   ::)  There's nothing I can do to change the hand of cards I've been dealt.  You, on the other hand are able to make a difference but don't have the balls to step up for your family.
Yeah, my world sucks alright.

His comment was not geared towards the people who simply dislike the car.  Back when the new charger came out, many members were openly hostile to anyone who did like it.  And many new members were chased away, simply because they owned one.  That is what he was talking about when he said he was ashamed.  And rightly so.  That behavior was shameful.

Maybe it's just me, but your personal attacks are also shameful.  Food for thought?

Also, the original poster has the V6, not the Hemi, so his question still remains unanswered (at least on this website).
Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups.  Especially if they have access to the internet.

The previous gens had an open grill I believe.  Don't think there is an aftermarket grill for the redesigned one yet, though.  Would be interesting to see...
