Estimated value of 80 to 100 Billion dollars? Pretty amazing that a virtual something or other, can be worth something or other.

The true value of Facebook.  :D   http://www.facebook.com/TrueValue

I wish I had some play money to buy some stock just for the heck of it.  ::)  I told someone at work that I wanted to by GM stock when it was a $1.50 a share during the bail out time. A year later it was worth over $40.00 a share. That would have made some nice money.

Oh well.

Not buying stock and i think i want to delete my spacebook account all together.  I go to yahoo or some other site and it takes forever for the page to load so i can "like" and "share this article on facebook"  ugh!   :brickwall:

Be very careful with that! On the GM stuff if you got the "old" stock it is worthless. New stock was issued and that's what you see at $40 per share. There are different kinds of stock as well. The "preferred" stock holders get their money before the rest of the schleps when a company is dying.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I don't particulaly care for facebook either, but I have friends & family that have moved all over the country that I don't really get to stay in touch with. Facebook let's me get notices & announcements from them, like the cousin I never met that just had a baby, or when they plan to be in my neck of the woods. Facebook lets me ignore them even more & plan to not be home when their in Newburgh.

I plan to invest a bit in them.  Not likely going to be a long term investment, just to ride the IPO wave for a few months.  I'm not sure it's a safe long term bet considering it is so closely linked to trendiness.  It could be the next forgotten thing (like MySpace) in no time.  I worked for a .com in the hey day and I can recall oh too well how quickly something can go from awesome to suck.

Hey, it takes money to make money.  Several of my car buddies & I have sat back & watched one of our friends make thousands of $$ flipping cars.  He buys them, spends anywhere from $1k-15k on them & sells.

He bought 2 '70 Cougars local for $45k, took them to BJ & they totaled $66k.  Yeah, I know, there's shipping, commision, etc.  But he still made over $10k.

Right after 911 I wanted to buy some Intel stock.  Everything bottomed out but held off only to see it go right back up to where it was.   ::)
