There goes another day down the toilet rant...

Today I woke up really wanting to get some stuff done on the Charger. The plan was to call Brewer's Performance first thing and get a clutch pedal rebuild kit coming. Once that was ordered I would buy a pair of seat foams to get the front seat reconstruction moving forward and then I could take my pedal assembly down, have it and some other stuff blasted, drop the pedal assembly off at the platers, leave the trim and a pulley there to be powder coated and finally, take a piece of replacement windshield trim to get polished (the polisher bent one).

So I start trying to call Brewer's and get nothing but busy signals at both numbers. For two hours now I've been getting busy signals, and I sent them an email that has yet to be answered. So I move ahead with the seat foam since PG Classic has a good deal on the stuff through Ebay. Well that instantly turns into a pain in the a$$ because Ebay will not accept the street address I'm trying to enter. So I have to call the PO and the upholstery shop trying to get an address that will work. Of course everyone tells me the address has worked just fine for 30 years, yadda, yadda. So that took about an hour of phone/texting tag to figure out and I'm still not 100% sure it's going to work because I had to enter a PO box address and put the street address in the comments section. :P Of course I have to do all this while fighting off the telemarketers and politicians who keep calling to beg for money.

Anyway, the part of my day that should have taken less than 30 minutes took two hours and I still haven't heard from Brewer's so now the rest of my day is shot. At best I might be able to take the windshield trim to the polisher because I start work in about two hours. :rotz: I hope he doesn't bend that one too. And I still don't know if I can get the clutch pedal rebuild kit so who knows if tomorrow will be any better.

Like I always say, nothing can be easy.

I need to call Brewer's so thanks for saving me the time! ;) I know Wayne pretty much stays on the phone all day but they also had a receptionist the last time I was there (presumably to pick up the slack?).

Actually, I'll probably just drop by their shop some time this week so if you still haven't managed to place your order then let me know and I'll grab it.

Don't know what to tell you about the address. The place I work still doesn't show up when I try to get directions so I have to use the address next door. UPS, FedEx, Mail, and pizza delivery have no problems getting here.

Troy
Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

bull

Thank the maker! Finally, after four hours of trying the phone rang, a human answered and I was able to order the kit. It was the receptionist that answered and then put me on hold (for Wayne I presume).

FYI, here's the kit: http://www.brewersperformance.com/proddetail.asp?prod=CPA%2DRBK

Now I just barely have enough time to drop the piece of windshield trim off before I go to work.

Thanks for the stories, Curtis. Now my day is a whole lot better (meaning I don't feel so sorry for myself now....   ).

Dude, watch out for Troy.  He sent me a Dana via covered wagon & a couple NOS Hemi carbs via a stinky hitchhiker that I bought @ Carlisle & I still haven't got the stuff.     ;)

Try to get too much done (especially before heading to work), you end up getting little done.

Bull if it's any consolation to you my day went like clockwork.
All my customers turned up on time for a change.
Each car was finished and out in the carpark within my estimated time and all customers picked up their cars within 15 min of me calling them.
So I headed out to do a couple quotes, scored both jobs on the spot, ducked over the other side of town to pick up concert tickets for Friday night, was back on the freeway before the traffic got heavy, and was home cracking a beer by 3.00pm  ;)
Gotta love a '69

QuoteOf course I have to do all this while fighting off the telemarketers and politicians who keep calling to beg for money.

Can help you on this one. Buy a call blocker. It will brighten the rest of your day.

Mine was a cheapo unit @ $60. It has three levels:

1 Only pre-programmed numbers will ring through.
2. Anyone else, no ring and sends them straight to voice mail.
3. And then there is the programmed No Call list. No ring. No voice mail.

If you want all calls to come through, simply turn it off. It plugs into the line between the phone and the wall, and in 2 minutes you are in business.

My spouse laughs at me, but this is literally the most satisfying thing I have ever purchased. The real joy comes from checking the call list and seeing that the telemarketers are calling repeatedly and not getting through.

Yup..... now I'm wasting their time!  :D

Over here we have a "do not call register" organised by the government. You just ring or go on line to add your name to the list and you'll never get a telemarketer's call again. I haven't had one in over 4 years. Total Bliss! Answering the phone used to be the most annoying thing ever before the register.

Fred, we have that too but there's nothing to really stop them from ignoring it. And I believe campaigning politicians are exempt.

Thanks, Mike. I'm going to look into getting that gadget. :2thumbs:

Reregistering every month is a definite pain in the behind.
But what's wrong with the good old answering machine? You can screen all your calls that way.
Mine's on 24/7 and I only pick up and talk to people I want.

I was wrong, it's supposed to be permanent. But like I said there's little recourse if someone ignores it.

Anyway, back to the whining... :icon_smile_big: It took me two days but I finally got (most of) the stuff done that I wanted to get done on Monday. Sand/glass bead blasted the seat tracks, console bracket, front and side interior roof trim, clutch/brake pedal assembly, steering column mounting plate and a bunch of fasteners. I would have been able to deliver the parts to be plated and powder coated but the old glue on the console part slowed me down, and then the blaster blew one of the captive washer nuts out of my hand (and it got lost in the hopper) so I decided it was time to quit. Finished what was left of it at work during break time so tomorrow I can deliver it and finally start wondering why it's taking them so long to get it back to me.

I don't sugarcoat it.  On our answering machine when I make up the message I say right off the bat, "We screen our calls & if we don't recognize your # we're not gonna answer.  So if you wanna talk to us, leave a message & I'll try & get back to you."

Telemarketers or charities won't leave messages on an answering machine . So that takes care of them.  :2thumbs:
