Pistol Grip. For basically nothing more than it gets more attention.

I agee with 472 RTSE.
Pistol grips are great for '70 and up, but stick with the ball shifter for '68 and '69s!

I say ball or t-handle.  IMO, the handle just appears to be too long on pistol grips in b-bodies.  I do, however, like the looks of a pistol grip in either an e-body or a '71 and up b-body with console - nice short shifter.

Yeah, that long throw non console pistol pistol grip almost looks like one of those Rat Fink monster shifters.

So, it seems as though everybody's opinion of the pistol-grip is based on looks alone.  TSK, TSK.  :scratchchin:

It seems as though everyone vote on ball-grip is based on stock appearance alone...   tsktsk

The question was which you prefer, whether your preference is based on appearance or function was entirely up to you.

Always preferred ball shifters over anything else. Since I have never driven a stick Charger my vote for ball is for both looks and previous experience with other vehicles.

Ahhh, hogwash.   :slap:   In order for it to be considered Rat Fink you have to be able to see the pistol grip from outside the car.  I haven't seen that done yet, someone needs to take advantage of that idea.

I think the pistol grip is the most bad ass shifter knob ever produced. However in my Charger, it will be getting a Hurst white ball...

:iagree:, a pistol grip looks cool in a 69! But for a 68, 69 a Hurst shifter with a ball.

It doesn't completely qualify but I did do that in an 83 Omnicharger I once had.  I'll have to dig up a photo as it was worth a laugh.  I still have the boogered up Omnicharger shifter with my homemade adapter plate on it to get the pistol grip bolted on.  For that matter I still have the pistol grip somewhere.

I prefer the 70 charger pistol grip hurst in my 68,  it helps with no knuckle punches on da dash.

Although the pistol grip is the hemi of shifters, nothing says four speed like a Hurst white ball imo.

I agree :2thumbs:  The ball shifter is was what I started with and the pistol grip tried to make me learn something new. I was just fine thank you.
