How about pictures of some "NO MAINTENACE" rock gardens or something else like that.  No maintenance.   Stuff that looks good but requires no work.  More time for the garage.

My wife has a garden in the yard in an area I had to level & fence in. She grows tomatoes, cucumbers, herbs, lots of garlic, but I've never seen her grow keens in it.   :shruggy:

Self seeding & it comes up every year as well. Plant with some Garlic, it will keep the Aphids away.

Lupine;

They're just beautiful. I do like Lupine's and most cottage garden plants.

If you look close at these, you can see some aphid damage,  I did not know the garlic trick at first. I sprinkled some chopped garlic from my spice rack on & around them after a major infestation & they were all gone the next day.

How about an assortment of daisies? Most a very hardy once established and they're pretty dense so suppress the weeds.
This is in my terrace/rockery. Even with full sun for most of the day they thrive. And I never water. ...........

Some years we get a lot of aphids on the roses and I'm sick of spraying.............I'll give it a go. Thanks for the tip.  :2thumbs:

Are you talking about dried garlic from your spice rack or fresh?

Dried chopped garlic from the shaker bottle at the store.  It was too late for me to plant any garlic when they hit, so I used what I had & it worked great. Aphids do not like the smell, so they stay away.

I used the rest in pasta dishes. Win-win.   :icon_smile_big:

I use it on my sweet potoes ha ha!! Actually we pretty much use it in all our dishes so there's always plenty on hand. Both fresh and dried.
But I didn't think the dried would be potent enough in the garden. But if it makes no difference................we've got it made. Those little sucker's won't get the better of me next spring.  :2thumbs:

You need to move to the Adelaide hills.

Were on the edge of the Adelaide hills. The vegetation is still pretty dry here and the soil is poor so it's hard to have a lush garden... We make due with the climate but it's hard.

One day moving back to Victoria or Tassie will be on the cards, when we sell this place.

Although a barren patch of land in Tassie wouldn't be a bad thing.......

We thought about moving to Tassie at one stage but we've decided that Vic's weather is just right for us whatever time of the year, as where Tassie (with the exception of one or two places) is bordering on too cold in the winter. Plus we'd feel too isolated from the main land now. But it sure is a beautiful state.

We get a couple of raised bed veggie gardens growing every year, usual stuff, lettuce, capscicums ( bell peppers) yellow, red, green, corn, beetroot, green and purple beans and 3 different types of tomatoes -cherry, roma and beefsteak, awesome toms and we make the old secret family recipe sauce with extra chilli in it, made 15 bottles last year and got 2 left.
My other favourite would be my cool Sunflowers, got some really good seeds and got 12ft out of them last year with the heads at 400mm across
Also done a bit of landscaping and planting out as well, really enjoy the results with time

Will find some pics later on

Can't get those beefsteak toms in the supermarkets here. Do you stake the plants or just let them grow along the ground like pumkin?
We don't really grow any vegies now (used to) Too many birds and native animals about the place and we like it that way. Do have some fruit trees...........nectarine, plum and figs and some strawberries and raspberries. Our neighbour's have a wonderful old walnut tree but the cockies always beat them to the nuts. And the wallabies enjoy their pear tree.  So being self sufficient in our neck of the woods is pretty futile.  They do get plenty of chestnuts though and so do we for that matter because the tree is on the fence line.
