My charger's last 6 digits are 402911.   I think my car was a late production 69.  Anybody know how close mine was to the last one produced for the 69 model run?

hemigeno

Lemme guess - your Schedule Build Date is June 3rd, 1969 (603)...

The production run at Hamtramck went for another 6 or 7 weeks, which means that while your car was definitely built late in the '69 model year, it's not especially close to the end of the model year run in general.

Incidentally, a small batch of Daytona VIN's runs from 402960 through 402984... yours is rather close!

A long way away. Like Geno said, a 402XXX VIN puts the car around 603 SPD. Production ran at least until 714. The highest VIN I have for a 69 Hamtramck car is a Dart in the 450XXX range so there could have been a lot of Chargers produced after yours. Chris at the registry may have more specific information on Chargers.

The latest I have registered is 448227 with a SPD of 7/18/69 last day of production for Chargers for the '69 model year....dont quote me on that though!

Believe it or not this car is now in Australia!

The SPD may or may not be the build day for starters, it was the date they hoped to build the car when the order first entered the system.

Hamtramck typically used one or more SPDs for the last week or three of production vs. daily numbers.

Was just curious.  I took the drivers door inside panel off yesterday and written in orange crayon on the back was "these two jobs here are the last ones".  The car has never been apart.  I'm pulling it down to the bare unibody to get it ready to go out for metal work.

Maybe it was the line worker's last day  :shruggy:

Anyone know when this #(192238) was produced? I am new to all of this decoding stuff. According to some of the #'s here, mine must be pretty early 69.....

I'm no expert (yet) but, mine is 193367 and had a scheduled build date of Dec 26 1968 so yours was likely built a few days earlier in December. Do you have your tag on the inner fender? Look at the second row of codes from the bottom. Mine says "C26". C is for December and 26 is the day of the month. Yours might say C19 or C20 or something close to that. Let us know.

If it is a STL built car, 192*** would be consistent with a C20 (December 20th) SPD
If it was built at Hamtramck, 192*** would be consistent with a late October SPD

Thanks 69 CoronetR for the extra accuracy. I didn't even think of which plant the car came from. Mine is a St. Louis car.

I got an early one.  XS29L9B1030xx - Aug 3rd 1968 -
Vehicle Order # starts with a B    -  Canadian Export, eh?  :-)

Alaskan_TA

Canadian cars were not considered export cars.

Cars ordered from overseas were considered export cars - even if they never left the US.

Do you have a broadcast sheet for it by chance?

I do not know if Chris tracks the actual build sequences from the broadcast sheets like I do for the 1970 Hamtramck cars, but with that note I would be curious to see the broadcast sheet for it & any others from July.

I wasn't fortunate enough to get the fender tag!!

flyboyedwards

is there ANY way to find the fender tag info? And NO I didn't get any broadcast sheets either! Dang it all!  :brickwall: :brickwall: :brickwall:

Chatt69chgr

Never thought to look on the build sheet which I have.  Build date was 6/2/69.  Doggone.  Just missed my birthday by three days.
