I just got a letter from the County saying I owe Taxes on a 68 Chrysler Vin # CE27H8C100333. ?? Does this belong to a truck ?  I think I owned that thing 5 years ago.  :scratchchin: :shruggy:

If you sold it there should have been a form on the back of the title that you had to submit to the county or state, etc that told them you had sold the car.  Then take the plates off the car, do not let them go to the buyer!!  That always prevents people from buying the car and using your old plates to drive it around and not changing the registration.  Some folks don't do it because they don't know or are asked by the buyer not to do it for whatever reason.  Not a good idea to skip the step.  Cars can be used for other illegal purposes and it may come back on the seller.  Not fatal but can be a real pain to get cleared up.

Mike, I remember now. I got you a Title for that Newport, and it had to be in my name since I live in Kansas...You would not believe what I now owe Kansas. :brickwall:

my son had a firebird. he traded it in to a car lot for a chevy blazer. 3 mos later i got a call asking where my son was. i said he was home. they said he wouldnt have been in texas then? i said no,he hasnt left home.  his old firebird was in a hold up in texas. i had to give them the name of the car dealership that took the car in on trade. they wholesaled it without changing the title name. it went to a car lot in texas where someone took it for a test drive still in my sons name and robbed a gas station. :shruggy:

Mike,

You shouldn't owe anything for that car in taxes, I took it home and had the title transferred into my name with the state, I did title only until I get it ready for the road. Some times they put them on your personal tax bill.  When I get back home I can get you a copy or something that proves when the title was put into my name. I titled it I beleive that week. Let me know

I'll get it straightened out. Apperantly States don't share enough VIN info. :scratchchin:
