Those guys are real dorks... many miss statements like that.... The 1st couple of days were either really cheap cars, un-restored drivers, barn finds or stormen monster deals, the quality seems to be getting better towards the weekend, too many no sales like 50% it seems like, or just sale instantly after the reserve is lifted, allot of the TV shots show not very many people/buyers in the room during allot of the sales, reserve auctions really don't seem do to well sometimes, seems to be a buyers market...

68 Hemi Charger 4 speed sold $130,000. Lots of Action on that.

Huh... I didn't think you could get a steering wheel without at least a half horn ring?  Doesn't look like you can.  Seems such an obvious detail to get wrong when you get 130k for the car.   :slap:  :P

Good catch.   :2thumbs:  That is true...what is shown is not factory (well, at least for a '68 Charger.   ;) ) imho. Interesting also that the car has an Inland shifter, but a Fratzog medallian. I think the Inland experiment ended about the time the Fratzog Medallian replaced the Bullseye. Must be a 1 of 1.   :icon_smile_wink:

Yea, if that thing was as good as it looked someone got a great deal. Probably because it was an auto with highway gears in the rear end. So they figured it was for pansies.  :P

I know this is kind of a old post but I just wante to agree with the majority of you. Mecum Auctions are a blast to watch. Nothing like watching quality Muscles Cars in HD.

djcarguy

what is the real story on auction info??  info for 108 k bird says 1920 made,,,,,,,,,,and info for 200k bird says 1981 were built.
Superbird club says 1935 which i think they would know best.but have heard right at 2000 for many years?

I like auction disclaimer as to all info, not their fault or sellers, but up to buyer to sort threw the info and lies..dj

Budnicks

Yep, the buyer should do their due diligence/research on any purchase, no excuses for not knowing about what you are about to purchase, especially in the $100K ranges... Buyer Beware
