Dead Rabbit

A friend of several years told me that his wife, was looking out the kitchen window saw their German Shepard walking around the yard with a rabbit in its mouth. Their neighbor had a pet rabbit in a hutch so they both ran out to stop the dog. They got there too late and the rabbit laid on the ground, all wet, matted with mud, and very dead.

My friend went to the neighbors to see if their rabbit was in its hutch and sure enough it was empty, the door was open and the neighbor wasn't home.

Feeling terrible at what his dog had done they had to think quick. They decided to do what any good neighbor would do and fabricate a cover up.

They brought the dead rabbit in the house and bathed it with shampoo and then used a hair dryer (no pun intended) to dry the fur and make the rabbit look as though it died of natural causes. They then gently placed the rabbit back in its hutch and shut the door. All was well.

The very next day his wife called him to the kitchen window and showed him a group of neighbors gathered at the hutch. They thought it would look suspicious if they didn't go out and ask what had happened.

SO... they went to the fence, like concerned friends and asked the question...

The neighbor was without words. After a long pause the neighbor explained... Our rabbit died a couple of days ago and we were heartbroken, so we buried him out back. This morning when we came out, he was back in the hutch with the door shut, like he had never even been buried at all.  :eek2:
