I'm sure somewhere long ago I've asked this as well, any of you into Martial Art's? I myself am, been considerring BJJ lately but I don't have the time. I study TKD when possible as well as Jeet Kune Do, but seams life the past few months has taken it's toll with me and here I am feeling restless once again and needing that edge to shall we say, cool me down from everyday life stress B.S.
Winter time for me is really when I study it the most, summers here are just to dang awesome to give up for extra activity, which yes I understand is wrong.
Not into the MMA much myself for many reasons FYI.

Comments welcomed, Mark
Hey, you can hate the game but don't hate the player.

Won't you sign up your name, we'd like to feel you're

Hi there, my son and I are very much into the Arts. The Jeet Kune Do was the style Bruce Lee made and mastered as I'm sure you know. The BJJ is more for the MMA competition and Aikido is the style Steven Segal mastered. All of these Martial Art's are great however I think a good Cardio work out and also some weight training may be better and quicker relief of the days stress. The "Art's" takes a great deal of time and dedication IMO. Good luck Mark, Joe

I'd rather be hated for the person I am, than be loved for the person I am not!!!!!!

I have done martials arts for 23 years now (freestyle karate), 10 years of kickboxing. I HATE mma and what it has become (eg UFC) and what it has done for the sport. It is a thug's sport and don't get into it.
Make it idiot proof, and somebody will make a better idiot!

If you think Education is difficult, try being stupid!

Thank you darkman for your comment. So true so true! BJJ Dojo is not far from where I live vs TKD. I have manay books and have studied Bruce Lee's way of life throughout the past 20 years or more. I personally have met Stevie Segal at an Akido class here years ago. What an asshat, didn't even shake my hand, was very much an ego assface and not just according to my vies that evening.
I'm friends with many Master Sensei's where I live from all type's of M/A's but just curious also what else is there that I personally have not learned and that can help me in the days to come.
I studied Kempo for years, loved it, but there is no class that teaches it where I live now vs WA. State.
I took a kick boxing class years ago, wow, it was a draw between my op. and I but man, what a battle it was and yes, we were both beat down in the end and glad we both survived! ha...

Thanks for you input guys.. Mark

I played competative Judo for many years.  I ran a dojo and taught Judo at a local college.

I studied Kempo for 8 years. I got my Black Belt and started to "slack off" where classes were concerned. (got into powerlifting/roids and lost my flexibility for several years).

My pc of advice? Find a style you like and stick with it.  Personally, I'd find a qualified JuJitsu(Japanese or Brazilian) instructor and stick with him like glue.

I am into TKD, I would like to pick up another form when I reach 3rd degree. Haven't decided what that will be. I think that hapkido looks interesting but may be difficult finding a place to study.

I studied TKO a long time ago when I was way young 8yo-16yo ---  was a red belt -     Then got into football and what not in high school along with drama and girls  :smilielol:    So martial arts went away -  picked up a little MCMAPS from my friend who's in - but wouldn't call myself an expert by any means.

I've done various forms of TKD and a little MMA for about 10 years but I haven't studies since I was 17, I'm 19 now and plan on going back soon. I never reached black belt due to cost and the fact that I switched schools somewhat often.

I'm not , but both my daughters are into Karate , oldest one is a 2nd KYU brown belt, but she should test for her 1st KYU brown maybe next month and is on pace to test for her black belt about Christmas time.
If so she will be a black belt before she gets her drivers license.
For any parents considering Karate , I highly recomend it. My oldest daughters confidence level has gone thru the roof as she rose thru the ranks. Her sempi has said she is one of the best students he has.
Yea, I'm bragging as I am very proud of them both

I studied Tae Kwon Do for about a year back when I was 22 or so.  I was about 6-7" away from being able to do the splits

My next belt was orange but I bailed on training.  There was a couple Filipino brothers that were black belts that I got to running around with.  When these 2 spared it was up in the air vs. the ground.

I'd love to get my daughter involved as it taught a great deal of respect.  One of the many things I miss.

10 years of TKD, then another 10 of various styles of Karate, Kung Fu and MMA. Last 4 years long distance running but have cut back on that now and am in week 5 of P90X.
Really liking the P90X very good for all round fitness, its no walk in the park though.

I have always admired those who understand martial arts as a life style not a tough guy hobby. These arts, IMO, are disciplines of the spirit and soul.

With this said, my favorite martial art is Kung .40 cal.  :D

I used to be in Tae Kwon Do when I was younger, but gave it up at Brown belt(at the place I was the next belt was black belt). But just recently I got bored and decided to take up Fencing, since I had more fun doing weapons sparring while in TKD.

I hold a san dan(3rd degree black belt) in Shorin Ryu Matsumura Kempo. Do some research before you choose an art or school. There is a big local school/system here and they are really good at marketing but the "founder" established the art as a sho dan (1st degree black belt) and most of the bunkai (fighting application of kata) was lost.
