Husqvarna chain saws

Had one given to me for christmas of 2007.  Has maybe 5 hours use on it.  MAX.  Always leaked bar oil since new.  The crank is beant the piston is scored. 

Warranty is done.  I bitched at the dealer who gave me the number of someone to call, he said they may kick in $50 for a new one.  I think that's a slap in the face.  I'm going to call tomorrow.  It's been a disappointment from day one.

Will I get satisfaction?  It was an expensive say when it was given to me.  I found this out recently when I called their hotline and they wanted to know someonething off the reciept and I had to get a duplicate.  It was around $450.  What makes me really mad is that my wife bought it and I've complained about the saw since day 1 (to the dealer) who never really wanted to help.

That's odd.. Normally Husky makes a great product... I've always been told to stay away from the Home Depot and/or Lowes version of this product... Cheap crap..

But, this sounds like it came from someplace else.. There's no excuse....

It did.  It came from a...............well shop.  A shop that rents equipment of all sorts.   Mechanic at that shop told me today that mine is made in Sweden, the ones you get at the Lowes, or Canadian Tire for me, are not the same.  Meaning their made here I guess.  We should probably be insulted by that. 

The thing about Lowes or Candian tire is if you had a problem they'd likely give you another!  I've gotten to the point (long times ago actually) where I don't want to buy from small business owners for reasons like this.

I hear ya. If I were that small business owner though, SEEING that it was in like new shape, I wouldn't let you leave unhappy. It's a sure fire way to not be a small business owner for long...

Husqvarna saws are made about 30 miles from my house they make husky and Poulan. I have a Stihl ms 250 that i havent had any problems with.

Stihl......All I use and no problems at all.

I've had nothing but good things to say about huskies.   I ran these all summer.  50+ cords of wood mostly with the 14" saw.      I used the bigger one for the trees over 2 foot.

We always had Stihl growing up. My dad was not a big fan of maintenance and yet they seemed to always do the job.

My only experience with Husky is a 70s dirt bike a friend owned and my lawnmower. Except my Husqvarna mower was built with a Honda engine, if that means anything to you.

I have a 455 and it runs and works well. Leaks bar oil though.     Need to look into that.

Don't cut a ton but do use it for some cord wood and in the spring to clean and buck up all the drops from the winter.

bakerhillpins.  What year is your saw?  I was told 2005 and earlier have a 2 piece oil pump, update to a 1 piece.   But even a 2006 or 2007 could have left over parts.

Take a look at the back side of the cap.  For some reason I've wrecked a few.

I haven't called them yet.  Need to be mentally prepared.  Running behind schedule today.

I believe mine is a 2009. Ill have to take a look later this evening. It didn't leak the first year I used it but it didn't get a lot of use that year either. Not till the next year when I got to the big pile o logs generated from the site work after the addition was put on the house.

  The old John Deere V50.  I can't give the kind of "full on wood" endorsement that Skip can though.   

Nice to finally have kickback protection and a vibration absorbing handle.

I have a 440 and a 455. Love them both. Both leak bar oil. I've always had Huskys. I had a Husky 51 befor these. Loved it too.

I just bought a new 455 to put larger windows in a log home. Went through the oem chain right quick, but besides that its worked great! And, ahhh, arent they supposed to use bar oil?

The bar oil leaks when not in use making a mess of the hardcase. I just keep shop towles in my case to soak up the oil

So far no luck in even getting a hold of someone in Canada for customer service.  These guys are BRUTAL.

I've got 3 chainsaw's.................Echo, Stihl & Hasqvarna. I've had the Echo for 30 years, still going strong, never been repaired. The Stihl for 10 years, no problems.
The Husqvarna,for 2 years.................nothing but trouble!! Will never buy another.

So after a week of leaving messages someone from Mississauga Ontario finally got back to me.  Wow.  Turns out doesn't deal with chainsaws after all;  but is hooking me up with someone that does.  And they'll phone me.  Probably when they are good and ready.  Wish I would have thought to insist for his/her contact information before I got off the phone with him.  Guess I'll give it a week.

Anyhow something he said, and from looking on ebay, made me cringe.  Is Husqvaran the same as Craftsman and (gulp) Poulan Pro?  If so..................if it's nothing but an orange poulan pro it wouldn't be worth anything would it.

It is entirely possible as I remember reading somewhere a year or so ago that Husqvarna bought out a lot of bigger companies so it is entirely possible that lower end stores could be using cheaper versions of the brand name.

Never owned a Husqvarna. I have a small Poulan for limbing, a Stihl for most of the cutting, it has a 24" bar, and then I have a Homelite XL925 that I bought back in the mid 70's that I just put a 34" bar on... That one doesn't get used a lot anymore... Not because it doesn't run really good, but because I'm not quite the man I was back when I was a kid.

Here is a picture of my old bar oil cap.  I shoved a small screw driver in and broke a chunk off, and well the gasket is holding it there.  For the purpose of taking these pictures.  Is is a fine crack on the backside of the cap.

I've also been told that this part number is a possibility.  On my saw (Husqvarna 142).  The oiler part #545036801, and the oil hose that goes with it #545037101.  The oiler on earlier saws is a 2 piece unit (2005 and older).  Maybe the part #'s are the same for you?  I don't know, but you get the idea.
