A question for the GL owners, do you find that if you are also a memorabilia fan that you tend to just get stuff related to the Dukes or the traditional Dodge and Charger promotional items are more your thing?
Because it must get expensive if you are into both.

WB General Lee

Myself I used to have over 150 diecast and model kits of Mopar cars. I had most of the wing cars in 1/18 scale. It got a little crazy and then I bought a few movie cars and said what am I doing with all these toys. I then sold them off. I did keep the autographed ones like Bill Maverick and Mt Norm. I now have about 25 different diecasts signed by George Barris. I have a few 1/18 General Lees sign by the cast members and that's about it and some Green Hornet models and toys. I do love collecting though I may buy the Big Willie diecast loved to get them signed.

HELPME

Excuse me,

First off I have to say that I apologize for having next to know idea about cars, but I have a friend that does and he has found a car that the owner is telling him is a General Lee from the TV Series.  I know nothing about cars, but I know computers, so here I am hoping that a group of people such as you here, could direct me to some answers, as there are no better people to ask about a product than those who love that particular product. I thank you all in advance for anything and everything you can help me with.

I know this question probably gets asked more than any other here, but if someone has a General Lee how do they prove it was from the TV Series if all they is the car and no papers other than the 'used vehicle information package'.

I was told to find Wayne Wooten - that seems to be impossible.  There must be some other way to prove the car is from the TV Series other than having Mr. Wooten tell me.  I know there are 'fakes' out there. -

Does it matter that the camera mount is still in the car? Would that mean someone is trying to make it look like it is from the TV Series or did they actually have camera mounts in the cars?

VIN#XP29F9BXXXXX
MAKE and Model: 69 Dodge Charger
Colour: Orange
Body: 2 Door Sedan/Coupe
Cylinders: 8

Not sure if this matters...just trying to give as much information as I can.

I will find out anything that is requested, and even get pictures of the car, the engine, etc, anything that could help.

Thanks again to anyone that can HELP ME!

If it is one of the 17 survivors, it will have documentation from Warner Brothers proving its pedigree. I believe I remember reading that WB must approve any transfer of ownership of those cars (and a cut of any profit made in doing so).

WANT TO BUY:
Looking for a CD by  'The Sub-Mersians'  entitled "Raw Love Songs From My Garage To Your Bedroom"

Also, any of the various surf-revival compilation albums this band has contributed to.

I can't see how WB can tell you who you can or can't sell your car to.  Documentation is like having the original owners manual from your car or its broadcast sheet.  If I was lucky enough to have one of the original 17 survivors and had to sell it for any reason, unless I had signed a contract with WB saying I had to give them permission for me to sell my car, that car would go to whoever the hell I wanted it that had the cash in hand.

Maybe we have a few of those car's custodians on board that can correct my potential misinformation, but I believe there is in fact a contract regarding paid appearances, advertising and transfer of ownership that goes with those cars and their respective documentation.

HELPME -

There is specific data available to refute or confirm a TV-series GL.

But it's usually not really necessary.  So few of the replicas are anywhere near accurate that we can usually just eyeball them and know.  The vast, vast majority of supposed "real TV General Lees" are obviously fakes to anyone who knows the TV cars well.

Can you just post up some pics of the car?  Preferably of the body graphics, the interior, the engine bay, etc.

I could be wrong here but I'm sure that each 'original' GL had a WB numbered marking on either the rear glass or somewhere in the engine bay..
Gotta love a '69

I mainly just collect DOH stuff except for the occasional Mopar piece. I already collect too much stuff as it is so I have to draw the line somewhere.

My car is numbered 1052 of about 300

I believe it was an extension of the orginal VIN number, XP29XXXXXXXXX LEE 1

Basically, I just have the car because it pisses my buddy off with his Blue and white R/T clone. Told me not to do up a GL cause it wasn't cool. Got to the first car show and the orange one got all the attention. Don't really collect much Duke's merch.

The one original car that I saw was the two wheel car that I saw was actually a 68 that was converted to a 69 in the tail panel section.  Shoddy metal work was done by pop riviting thin sheet metal to cover up the tail light holes from the 68 and 69 tail lights were somehow made to fit.  There were a bunch of other things too but I cant remember off the top of my head.  I'd have to go and search for the pics I took of the car.

If this is the car I saw at Duke's Fest, the gent was in a wheelchair. Had the "Hole in radiator with steam in front" car.

It sounds more like Jim Sirotnik's "ski" car.

kikgas01

Nope, that is Keith Winfrees car. Jims car is the "ski" car.

To the original question.  I have a few, very few pieces of DOH memorabilia but I don't go out of my way to collect it.  The way I see it, collections only collect dust.

I collect DOH stuff from back in the days when I ran an ad in HMN, before internet was really "invented" as we know it... I stopped, once the new stuff appeared in 97ish
