what size axle housing is correct for 73 charger?

I got a replacement housing which measures 57" from end to end(without backing plates) and 47" between spring perches. However the one on the car seems to be 55" end to end, 47" between perches.

amendment. The original rear is an 8.25 and the replacement is an 8.75. Will the 2 inch axle difference be a problem?

No, so long as you have the correct length axles, the only difference will be getting the correct backspace on the rims.

Im fairly certain though that 57 7/8 is the correct length for a 73 b-body though.
