can someone help  me  out with this trans # IS IT A      727   OR  904  TRANSMISSION//////    NUMBER IS   3640414    THANKS

Where did you find that number? The part number is stamped in the pan rail on the drivers side just above the pan gasket...that number is the only one that will positively ID its origin.

The shape of the pan will ID the 727 or 904.

3640414 didn't show up in the car lists because it's from a truck.

It's a '73 727 from behind a 318-360, should have the timing hole in the top of the bellhousing.

thanks  John, good to know, i have a 727 in my 73 cuda instead of the 904 ,numbers do match my 340 block ,fender code called out light duty trans ,so  some good news , not numbers on  trans but a better trans to have  behind my 340 thanks again for your research  have  a great day!!!!!!
