Why do people call them "slap shift or slap sticks" That was 71 up. Makes me CRAZY!  Almost as bad as selling your 69 Charger with a slap stick and posi........with traction bars.......... You see people call the sure grip a POSI! Makes me crazy, especially those who have had a lot of Mopars!

I suspect the POSI thing is half because they don't know any better and the other half because they are tired of the other half asking what Sure-Grip means.     :shruggy:

Edit: I did not read your thread very well. Disregard my response.

I think calling it 'slap stick' is a fun term.

The vast majority of the geartrain vendors use the term "POSI"...bugs me too but it's universally recognized.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

Another thing that bugs me is seeing traction bars on a Mopar.

The term "slap stick shifter" is a good Mopar term from way back when to now. The shifter was designed to be able to slap it up hard from 1st to 2nd and then again from 2nd to 3rd without fear of a mis shift.

68,69 and 70 Charger shifters didn`t work that way. Go try it. It goes from low to neutral. They sell a kit to convert it to a "slap shift"
