Hey all,

My car has been sitting for a few weeks now and when I went back to drive her the brake pedal went straight to the floor.  I checked the fluid and it's completely empty.  Looks like I have some sort of leak.  Is there a good way to find this leak (it's dirty under there) and get it fixed?  Will I have to bleed the brakes after I refill?  Unfortunately I know next to nothing about brakes.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

well it should be on the floor if not it leaked out the back into the interior or booster , once you findthe leak youwill definatly need to refill & bleed out the system

you need the car on a surface where you can look for drips on the ground, garage floor or paper. check your wheels on the inside of the tire to see if fluid has leaked down the tire/wheel meaning the leak is at that wheel. if not, fill the system and pump the pedal. that should get the fluid flowing. if it hasnt leaked yet, leave it for a few hours. the air will mve out and the fluid will follow dripping on the ground. hope that works for you.

A mysterious leak like that drove me nuts until I finally looked under the driver's side carpet. What a mess. Plus, because brake fluid draws water, I wound up needing not just a new MC, but a new floor on that side.
