Where did this trim come from?

I went to digging around in my trim box trying to get all my front and rear window trim ducks in a row and wound up with one extra. I really don't know where this one came from. Any idea?

Trim between upper and lower door pads maybe ?

charger Downunder

Looks like door panel trim inside between the top pad and door trim card.

Looks by the length of it, it's for one of the rears.

It's actually a stainless capped galvanized piece (note the minor rust on the galvanized part). If the stainless isn't too bad it can be straightened & polished.
On some of the lesser model cars, they were painted & not stainless (base B-bodies, etc, not 100% exactly which models). I've seen the painted ones before, and the metal under the paint was not stainless.
Your '68 would have the stainless moldings.

So do they attach to the lower door panel before it is installed?

This piece is a loner at the moment. It was thrown in with my front and rear window trim and I haven't seen the others yet. IIRC my door panels didn't have any trim on them because they had been "redone" in a strange marbled blue vinyl. This piece may have just been sitting in the trunk when I bought the car.

They screw directly to the insides of the door frame & inner quarter panels. They attach with flat headed pan head screws. So, once the screws are installed they are flush with the moldings.

The plastic vapor barrier goes on first, then the moldings go over the barrier. The lower door panels will fit in the groove at the bottom of the molding. The upper pads don't have any bearing on the moldings, they can be installed before or after the lowers. The moldings must be installed first is all. The moldings pretty much hold the entire top edge of the door panel in place.

Nice! Thanks a bunch for the pics.

Does anyone reproduce this trim? I finally found two more pieces (both fronts) but I'm apparently missing the other one for the back and the one pictured above is pretty dinged up.

 :2thumbs:

The trim is not being reproduced as far as I'm aware. I have a complete set of 4 advertised on here, but I kinda don't want to break up the set. I'd have to go have a look, but from memory they are nice.
Some one has got to have an extra set of rears on here I'm sure.

Please have a look at it and let me know. I don't seem to be having much luck finding that 2nd piece for the back.
