Chillin' in the Ski Lodge

Ever since my boy took up snowboarding, much of my free time is spent in the lodge staring at my iPhone lol!  Well, at least I can go on line.

Do you think they would notice if I brought the Charger in and worked on it?

Why not go skiing or snow boarding with them  , It's a blast, especially if your a motion junky like most car people are...  I taught all my nieces & nephews & all my former & current girl friends kids how to ski... It's never too late too learn, well mostly never..

Funny you should mention that. I asked my son if he thinks I should try it (I'm 52), after he was finished laughing hysterically he said "sure". I'm not sure what that means  I tried skiing back in the 80's when I was still brave. I fell a LOT and it hurt then. I think falling now would hurt a lot more.  I agree. I think it would be fun, and God knows I like to go fast... We'll see...

I'm 52, it's no big deal at all, I can still hang with most all of the youngsters skiing or boarding, I prefer skiing... I know guys that are in their late 70's still skiing... like anything it takes practice & some balance too, start on the smaller easy slopes {green dots} & move up to the, intermediate slopes {blue dots} latter when you feel more comfortable, the advanced slopes {black dots} are for advanced or experienced skiers/boarders...  lessons are cheap {well kind of} if need be... no way would I just sit in the lodge, well unless I was looking for the infamous snow bunnies...

We go to Mountain Creek in Vernon, NJ. It's a nice place, but it is so crowded most of the time. It's very close to NY City and they just mob the place.

I learned to ski and snowboard here in Minnesota on man-made sheets of ice at the local ski hills we have here.  Going out west my first time to Colorado i thought i was going to be bad but it was actually much easier to ski in the rockies.  So if you are a novice skiier in other area, you will do just fine in the nice powder of the rockies..

I hear you. Been out several times and plan on doing so again. Sister lives in South Lake Tahoe so we try to take a family vacation every couple yrs.

I'm almost 64 and took my grandson skiing last year.  It was my first time back on skis in about 15 years and I was right back into it in no time.  The equipment has advanced so much over the years that it seems it would be much easier to learn now than in the past.  I still have a pair of old wooden Kastle Olympic model skies with the old marker long thong bindings (1959 vintage) out in the shop.  I bet they wouldn't even let me on the slopes now with those old death traps.....

I hear that! The equipment they have today is light years ahead of what was available in the 50's & 60's... so much better and safer now! I'm not a big skier mind you, just a novice really... I don't ski often enough to be any good at it, but every once in a while I like to strap on a set of ski's and temp fate on Canon Mountain in NH. I fall a lot, especially when I'm going way to fast for my own good, but what can I say... I'm 55 and I still like to go fast... so I fall, I tumble, ski's go flying, I lay on the ground and have a good laugh, then I get up and try it again. Thanks to the equipment they use today, I can have a really great time without breaking anything.

I prefer my skis to be pushed by a rubber track that is powered by a twin cylinder 2 stroke in the 6-800cc range.

Sorry I would love to say come on out to Sunny Beautiful California & live the great life but, unfortunately independent construction in Calif. for the most part is pretty dead all together, there are a few larger companies holding on, it's really bad especially in the housing sector, that drive our once great thriving economy, lately like the last almost 4 or so years now {probably 10+ years in my area}, or they choose to use foreign contractors & material suppliers or cheap out of state contractors that use cheaper Mexican or sub par laborers now, because of the Liberals in charge of, the once great state of California, like to do it, that way now....  Between the ridiculous Workman Comp Insurance rates, Liability Insurance {suit happy people}, State & federal EPA & OSHA crap, high state & federal taxes, ridiculously extremely high permit/usage fees, High fuel, high shipping & material costs, too many other B.$. Govt regs, like Environmental Impact or traffic impact studies & the likes {10's of thousands of dollars per project}, I was a General Contractor specializing in Automotive dealerships, also some other custom residential & other commercial work, I got out of construction, "well mostly anyhow", now I'm a Golf Pro, there's really no money there either at the club level, but my body doesn't get beat to crap, every day now & I'm no longer going insane over all the bureaucratic govt. B.$, I had to deal with on a daily basis....  Other wise your welcome, come on out

Tell me how you really feel!      If i were to move i would get a job washing dishes or bartending at some resort on the mountain..  Something where i dont have to think and i only make enought to survive..   Remember the good ol days when you were young and the best, funnest jobs you ever had were the ones you couldnt afford to feed a family on....

I did work at Sierra Ski Ranch, Kirkwood, Heavenly, Squaw Valley, Mt Reba, Dodge Ridge & others when I was much younger, I did National Ski Patrol & beginers Ski instruction up to, but rarely 100 days a year, when construction was really slow, now I just go to chase the snow bunnies & for the recreation....

If you haven't noticed, I don't sugar coat anything, I am brutally honest about my beloved state, I was born here 1959 & raised here almost all of my life 52 years, with short stints living in Alaska {helping my divorced sister raise here kids, when she was active duty in the Air force}, Oregon {U of O, during the school year, couldn't wait to get home to California}, Missouri {to refurbish a race track & facilities}...
