Street Hawk 1969 Charger Chase Scene

I searched the forum and did not find this posted anywhere.

The year was 1985 and a nerdy twelve year old  sits in front of the TV waiting for a new show about a cop on a super-bike fighting crime. . Street Hawk, yea, sounds cool right.  Not only was the motorcycle badass, much to my surprise a black 1969 Charger is also in the show.  Wow, just like the Dukes.

I have often thought about the car, but have not seen this since 1985. The dialogue is a little off, but the picture is very good.  After watching this clip you will see why it made it only one season. Sorry if this was posted before, but I did not see it anywhere.

I am guessing this was a Warner Brothers Dukes car at some point. Of course, you will recognize the driver.

Cool. Never saw that one before. Thanks for posting. Taking a close look at the car, I noticed it has a '68 front fender on the passenger side only. You can see the round marker light. This is most visible very near the beginning and end of the video.

Yeah, has the right wheels... Even has the "sometimes the headlights are open, sometimes closed, syndrome"

It definitely looks like a left over Dukes car with the wheels and the vinyl top trim...

How did this one get canceled while Knight Rider ran five years? Not sure which one sucks more but they both suck.

G-man

Nice 69 Charger. Nice Boss? mustang at the end and a 3rd Gen Charger which looked neat.

I agree with Bull. This reminds me of Power Rangers for some reason, the bike guy must be the missing black ranger

Probably not. Warner Brothers kept most all of the cars they built until Wayne Wooten scored the bulk of the remainder. Even the Double Dare repainted blue Charger was back with the General Lees.

The Veluzat's and Ken Fritz were the outsourced builders in California for the years before WB brought these car builds in house. When each lost the contract they had cars left over that were not purchased by WB. These cars ended up in all sorts of other productions and sold/traded to other vehicle rental firms in Hollywood. Some are still out there in southern California not in orange paint. This is likely one of those cars.

Couldn't see side marker lights. Are we sure the exterior shots are a 69?

I noticed that too but, with the grill, tailights and backup lights, it's gotta be a '69. No side mirror or front bumperettes either.

Wow. There is a bunch of recycled footage from Bullit and a little from Deathproof.

Just noticed something else. We are dealing with two '69 Chargers here. Have a look at the scenes where the car is splashing through the water with the headlight doors open. That car has a door mirror and front bumperettes. Typical Hollywood crap. They must hate us car fanatics finding their mistakes. Here is a screen shot at 3:44.

So, the exteror shots of the back of the car could have been a 69, while most of the others were a 68.     :nana:
