Age 16. You could get a car, license and insurance on your own back in the day.

It was a '68 with a 318. And it was green and had 97,000 miles. I had worked my ass off as a kid and teen and saved my money. Bought it the summer before the start of my junior year in HS, it was 1973. Had to work two jobs to keep it. It got me thru college too and I finally sold it in 1979 with 225,000 plus miles. Still ran tight.

Like the saying goes "I was Mopar before Mopar was cool".

I was watching Dukes of Hazzard on TNN and was bugging my dad to build a General Lee. He found this car about 20-30 minutes away from our house and purchased it in November 1998 for $4,500 just the way you see it.

We've bought and sold four of them since including one General Lee but I still have this one  :2thumbs:

I got mine in 92 when I was 17 for $300 I had a 1969 coronet 440 2 door with 318 and found the 68 charger in the paper for $1000.I was broke so I called the guy and asked if he wanted to do a trade,my coronet for the charger but he wanted something newer.so I called my bio teacher at the time who's s gear head and his son was selling a 83 t-bird.to make a long story short,I traded the coronet for the t-bird and the t-bird for the charger.all three of us just swapped titles and I got my dream car.I only payed $300 for my coronet 6 months before trading it.
