On a 68 charger what is the best way to lock down the hood for anti theft deterant, I was thinking about the old standard chain and padlock

look in a paddock book and check out the hood pins. ( its not on the site that I can find ) but they have hood pins that take a round key to unlock.

I'm trying not to drill any holes in the hood

I have some hoofty set up...    6 small holes drilled into the underside structure of the hood and on the metal grill piece....   this is a basic sliding pin that runs to the inside of the car...    you can not open the hood when it is engaged...    it looks very ugly but isnt seen unless the hood is open....      ill take some pics of it when i get the chance to put it back on

there is a kind of wire/cable system similar to the interior release sitem taht has a pin at the end. You attach a bracket with a hole on to the hood ( unerside ) where the pin is inserted and locks from inside with a key system.

The key system is also a power cut system. ;)

I don't think anybody would've stolen anything but I'd bet you'd find a few fellows break it open just to look at your engine bay and jerk off!   :D

My 67 had a chain on the hood latch that was long enough to go around the frame and padlock.  It is out of the way when the hood is closed but not handy when you have the hood open.  A simple switch that triggers an alarm always works. :yesnod:
