I would go with gens. I would go 2nd gen, 3rd gen, 1st gen.  I prefer the 70 RT in the second gens but prefer the Daytona if they are counted to any.  2nd gen favs are 72 rallye, 71 Bee, 71 RT in that order :Twocents:

QuoteI would go with gens. I would go 2nd gen, 3rd gen, 1st gen.

I don't know if I'd do that as the 71-72 cars are mechanically very different from the 73-74 cars. The drive and feel is quite different due to the 73-74 isolated suspension, which separates a lot of fans between the two bodies. Its worth separating the 71-72s from the 73-74s.

The poll would have been better broken out instead of 71 vs 72-74, as 71-72 vs 73-74, or even listing 71 and 72 individually and 73-74 as one.

Of course it doesnt really matter, because 69 is best, and the rest are just also-rans  :icon_smile_cool:

I think alot of folks are gonna say 69 or 70 since the first gen was kinda like an experiment not many fokls like first gen cars, but then 2nd gen hits and they got it right mean, powerful, and sadistic like that we all envy, but then came the 3rd gen where they kinda wanted a luxury status, but yet muscle looking, but then it went FULL BORE on luxury the charger (cordova line up) was the new charger with more luxury looking than a muscle car.

Lets not forget the other CHARGER the so called SHELBY charger that some folks will swear up and down their mothers grave that they have a legit muscle car with 2.3L with a manual transmission stuck behind trying to race other true muscle cars.  These guys will tell you their shelby chargers are worth more NOW than they were in the 80s or so theres even one on ebay where folks say their cars are true muscle car classics.

then we have the 4 door charger nameplate well lets pack my family in this muscle car and go racing make sure the 6 month old is strapped in the 6 point harness in the rear back seat along with the 8 and 10 year old back with helmets and what not and dont forget the picknick basket in the trunk.

I,m feeling the same same way,  when I was looking for a Charger it had to be a 68 or 69, the 68 is what I ended up getting and now is my first choice if I was going to do another.

yep same result of the 2011 poll... 1968 winner at this time..... i can only agree 1968 is a beautifull model... but for me nothing can beat the split grill and the long tail light and black rear panel of the 69.....

i also prefer the 1969 console.. the silver 68 i dont like it... same for the pad dash and the grain on the dash.. i don t like the line grain of the 68...

Agreed on all but I do like the seat covers on the '68 probably as much as the '69, they are really nice.

'69 may be my favorite but the '68 is a very close second.  I wouldn't say no to a '70 either although I'm not a fan of the interior upgrades.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

What! No Omni charger? At least they had only 2 doors. So what if the wrong wheels were driven! :nana:

I voted 1st. gen. I almost bought a mauve '66 318 powered car. I just missed a '67 440 4speed car with a red gut! Ho man did I want that car! I love the 3rd gen that I have now but I'm just a dork for the homely cars. I am looking for a '66 A body to build a hot rod out of as we speak.
