What is a sales bank order car

My 70 Charger R/T has a y16 code on the fender tag and it says it is a Sales Bank Order car.   what does this mean?

Means it was ordered by the factory - not a customer or a dealer. They often did this (especially later in the model year) just to get some cars built, special options used up etc. Then they pushed them on the dealers. Seen some really weird combo's.
