68-70 Console Light Bulb Size

Hate asking this, but I'm going to try an "upgrade" here and don't want to order the wrong bulbs.  What exactly is the correct bulb for the center console lights on 68-70 Chargers?

In the manual, there is no mention of "console lights."  Am I correct in assuming they refer to the "console lights" as the "courtesy lights?"  If not, where are they covered?

Dome (1004) and Map (90) are each listed, so the only place I can think to reference the console is to courtesy.

That said, I currently have 1004s in the Console...which was in since I got the car and had burned the plastic lenses prob some time in the 80s based on the look, lol.  The only other time the manual specs a 1004 is for the Trunk.

The manual suggests courtesy lights to be 89s which do look to be much shorter than the currently installed 1004s, assuming the socket is the same (which I don't think it is).

The 1004s fit the twist socket, but their tall profile puts them against the lens (really any incandescent close to the lens seems like it could burn it...the dome has a nice sized gap).

When I try to cross reference the bulbs and sockets I seem to find that 1004s and 89s are not listed together for the socket pigtails etc.  It seems like the 89 is a single contact and the 1004 is a dual contact.

Easy solution would be to have an 89 and try it in the socket...I do not have any 89s on hand.  Plus, with the manual not defining console lights I'd honestly like to know if they are in fact covered by "courtesy" or something else etc.

I figure someone has the answer on the top of their head, or has bulbs that don't touch and burn their lenses.

Thanks in advance for any help on solving something that should be pretty simple compared to where I currently find myself, haha.

put 90's in the console..those are a bit shorter than the 1004's, so they won't burn the lens brown in the middle.

The 90 & 1004 have double contacts, do not put a single contact bulb in there..it will blow fuse every time and drive you crazy finding out why.
