So Communist California is at it again, telling drivers when to change their oil now.

Some cars REQUIRE oil change at 3,000 as their oil passages are very tiny and turbo cars (Subaru) rely on clean oil flowing through turbo. There's way too many turbo cars, particularly turbo-charged Subarus with blown engines due to lack of oil changes.

As a Canadian, I agree and share your pain. It's simply what happens when left wing, tree hugging pussies infiltrate government and try to force their agenda on everyone. I'm sure most Californians are of a normal mindset and can think for themselves. We here in Canada finally have a good government although I'm sure it is to late to undo decades of damage done by the lefties. I do change the oil with synthetic as little as possible on my new diesel Mercedes but, my Charger will get it's oil change whenever I feel it's needed. Now if only we can replace our provincial government.

did you even read the article?

a) California is not telling people not to change their oil every 3,000 miles. It's simply a publicity campaign along the same lines of "Dont waste water" and "Check your smoke detector battery". It is not a law or ordinance.

b) Some cars DO require changes every 3,000 miles and that why it says "...the ad campaign [is] to encourage owners to be aware of the recommended oil-change interval for their car."

I don't see a problem here? There is no legislation, and there doesn't seem to be any indication of enforcement. All I see is taxpayer's money spent on recommending the curbing of personal choice.  :P

Funny, my Mom used to get the oil changed at intervals that weren't mileage based. When the rattling in the engine got louder than the radio, she'd add 4 to 5 quarts.   :o

And she got 245,000 miles out of an Olds she had with that maintenance schedule.

So trite how the socialists sheeple are so quick to point fingers at a couple of radio talk shows and Fox in blame for half the nation not agreeing with them. So quick to question the intelligence of their fellow Americans and say they're easily led. Of course none of those on the other side of the fence never get any marching orders, right? ::)

I don't listen to any talk shows and I don't have cable. There are many others I know who don't also. How is it that we haven't become socialists yet? Do you think if it weren't for Fox news and Limbaugh there would be no more resistance and we'd have turned D.C. into Kremlin West by now? Just because Silver is a dork doesn't mean Limbaugh has brainwashed 50% of the population.

You have mistakenly painted me blue.  If you would educate yourself on my reference to "Air America", you'd see that I am lambasting BOTH the right AND left drivel that exists in the media that has trained a nation to just automatically oppose instead of think.

As pointed out by another, clearly the author and posters within this thread have jumped to conclusions and began the typical rants about socialism etc etc without even reading the article or understanding what the CA program is. Bravo to Ponch for calling a duck a duck. What we see in this thread is pretty typical of the type of automatic programmed responses that blathering talk radio and slanted TV shows have trained people to spew.

The subject before us: Program by the lefty CA Govt. Result: Automatic opposition from the right without a single synapse firing. Not all govt is good, but not all govt is bad either. Unfortunately fewer and fewer people believe that there is any good in govt, or put any thought into what is in front of them anymore..... instead they just spew the same old tired, programmed crap. I don't believe it is a question of intelligence that people do this, so I'm not questioning that. More so, I think it's a product of being immersed in an environment where many people are constantly being subjected to polarizing programming (Resistance is futile?)

So you don't watch Fox or listen to Rush or the (now defunct?) Air America - It's not just all about you and the handful of people you know. This slanted, unbalanced crap is is taken in hook line and sinker by the zombie millions, and it goes hand in hand with the ranting opposition that we see everywhere today.

I realize now that I should have passed on this thread  :brickwall:  because nothing good ever comes of engaging in these conversations, but now your lambasting me as a "socialist sheeple" has peaked my curiosity, so I am driven to ask: Don't you collect your paycheck from the left wing socialist govt you loath? Perhaps you are even a socialist organized labor member? How can you bear to be a party to it all?    :scratchchin:

My mistake, but at the same time you might be taking too much credit. You're right that I don't know much about the media entities you mentioned in your post because I really don't care to indulge. But I was not necessarily pointing the finger at you as much as the general mentality that people cannot think for themselves about political issues.

How is this not "about me and the handful of people I know" when the entire nation consists of millions of individuals and their handfuls of friends? Can you paint with such a broad brush? There is plenty of evidence to support your theory but at the same time there are too many variations of opinion out there for it to be all-encompassing.

Not sure what the deal is with your last paragraph. What do you want, I've gotta feed my family don't I? Does everyone out there love their job but me? I'm just happy to have one.

And, perhaps, the reason those dildos get voted in is because the alternative is worse.

Thanks at least some else sees it like i do... It's just LA & SF, Nancey Poleosy, Barbra Boxer, Diane Fienstien {Spellings ?},some of Sacramento that really mess up the rest of the state... It's too bad 15%-20% of the land mass has most of the population 20+million {38 million total}, very socialist liberal views, lots of welfare & social programs, lots of homeless, lots of panhandlers, lots of gays, lots of minorities, lots of trailer trash too & both are considered sanctuary cities, they don't adhere to many federal or state laws, concerning immigration or drugs, welfare etc., that no were near represents the true feelings, of the rest of the great people that live in this once fine state of California... We still do have some of the best weather in the country though, except maybe Hawaii... Oh well sorry for the rant...  I change my oil less often more like 7500 miles, because I use synthetics, they last much longer, but much more expensive too, there are some that recommend ever 10K miles, I do change the filters every 3K-5K, depending on usage... I really hate some of the politicians that think they can dictate what your maintenance schedule on your car can or should be, They should just stay out of our personal choices & pocketbooks, do the damn job they were voted in to do or should be voted out period...  :Twocents:

The problem here is, in my opinion when this stuff get down on paper as just suggestions or it's a state sponsored information, it doesn't usually take too long before, some big govt. socialist libtard group or global warming or green lobbyists, tries to make it into law for everyone...
