Should be an interesting show to see. I saw them around 1980 back in their heyday and they were awesome. Had 4th row center floor seats. It's amazing how both your knees instantly turn into spare seats for teenage girls you've never met.

hmmm....

I saw them when they first reunited back in '07 and it pains me to say it was one of the least memorable concerts Ive ever been to. I even forgot to include them in the "Bands you have seen live" thread. And VH w/ DLR is one of my all time favorite bands...

I have seen them with Sammy and I have seen Dave by himself, actually got to meet Dave and hang out with him during his sound check.

Well......

VH 1 was released when I was in high school, so I have attachments...and I've managed to miss a lot of bands I didn't go see back then-wasn't a big concert-goer in my youth, too busy chasing motorcycle races. So even if it sucks I won't have to say I never saw them.

Eddie can't hold it together that long. If they manage to play 75% of those dates I'll be surprised, especially if it actually sounds decent.

When?  A former band mate of mine told me that when he met DLR (1985) after a show, large amounts of white powder were readily available for those who partook.

He played here in Fort Wayne maybe 8 years ago.  The place was a small venue, but sold out.  In the early afternoon, a couple buddies and myself went down to the venue just to see if we could by some chance get in to meet Dave.  We walked right in the front doors and nobody told us to leave, so we grabbed a table off to the side. Within 10 minutes, Dave and his band came out on stage for sound check.  We got up from the table we were sitting at and stood in the middle of the floor, we were the only people there.  He came down from the stage and kinda put his arm around me as he sang Panama.  He stayed down there with us for nearly a hour talking with us and doing the sound check.  I am guessing he sung roughly 10 songs while standing down there with us. He was a very nice guy and made us feel very welcome.

Saw them (well kinda) in the early 80's
DRL was so drunk they started the third song of thier set over three times before they gave up and left the stage.

Since they actually took the stage the promotor said they did not have to refund the tickets so we all got screwed.

I remember when they first came out and we had 5 shows here in Detroit . . . I went to 4 of them!   I was thinking about getting tickets for the Detroit show but it ended up on a Monday and Cool and the gang are warmup?  I'll pass . . . . .   I did see them the last time here in Detroit with David lee Roth on vocals . . .  :shruggy:
Tomorrow is promised to NOBODY . . . .

I have to say I have caught lots of bands on reunion tours, and most of them have been pretty good. It probably has a lot to do with the fact that many wild oats have already been sown, and they are more serious about music and money than partying. I'm going to miss this one. All have a blast!

I saw them last time around with Roth in Toronto and we loved it! Lets face it Daves lungs aren't the same but to see him fronting again was worth it. I have seen them in every form now Haggar, Cherone now Roth. I was in grade 6 when 1984 came out so I had never see Diamond Dave front the band till then. The kicker is we are in Mexico when they play close to here...Detroit or Toronto or we would be going :-\

Rockers Van Halen have abruptly cancelled all tour dates after their June 26 show in New Orleans – offering no explanation as yet to fans.

The band had more than 30 dates planned around the US in support of their comeback album 'A Different Kind of Truth', which was released in February. The album was the first with original frontman David Lee Roth since 1984's '1984' and the group's first studio album since 1998.

A source told Rolling Stone that Van Halen's members currently "hate each other," before adding " The band is arguing like mad. They are fighting."

And my city was canceled, of course I had great seats too.

I have read several different explanations for canceling the tour, but I have not heard for sure.

I am leaning towards the fighting reason though.

I went last Tue, it was their last one. David Lee Roth needs to quit anyway. Eddie looked and played great.  David couldnt even try to jump, he looks like hes 75. One of their excuses was it was too much for them....i believe it.

That is the one I am hearing most.  They are not kids anymore.

This is why I have been running to see as many of these bands as I can, many will not be touring much longer.

Crue is one example of a aging band talking about hanging it up.

The only problem I had with them was they were way to loud. Good show otherwise.

Maybe I'm getting to old too.  :pity:

Age is an excuse but I don't believe for a second that it's the excuse. These guys are a bunch of hard-headed narcissists who just have a difficult time getting along with people in general, and when they get together and add in the inevitable drugs and booze it just makes everything worse. Sure, it's one thing to be 20 years old and riding the wave of fame on a party bus from one city to another but after 30+ years of reinforcing that stupidity you need to sit down and reassess your tactics once in a while.

elacruze

FWIW I thought it was a great show in Ft. Lauderdale. No, they're not kids but the big screen behind them was the only reason their geriatric audience could see whether DLR could jump or not. I didn't expect them to be 20 again, I just wanted to get some of what I missed the first time around.

Saw them here in Tampa in April, (I guess).. Eddie was nailing everything. I was surprised, but is it possible that David Lee Roth could have gotten any MORE GAY??? I swear, I saw them years ago with DLR and this time I thought they replaced him with someone even more flamboyant!! No kidding!! I had to ask around to find out who the new lead singer was!!!! Others were saying the same thing with surprise...

its some sort of tap dancing / 1920's shim sham deal I guess?

But even then, I get it. DLR is pushing 60 and cant do what he did back in 1982 so this is his new thing. Fair enough.

But again, the dog video. Again, WHAT THE F...
