I'm still kicking around what I want to do for the trip home. MMW is a bit out of the way, but in the grand scheme, what's another 100 miles or so after spending a week in the car, right? Rolling in with Long Hauler stickers and bug splatters, parking next to the pampered trailer queens has some appeal.

Shortest route home for me would be via Memphis, rather than back tracking through StL. I've got reservations on Beale St Saturday night. These reservations were made prior to the announcement of MMW.

If I were to do MMW on Sunday, I'd be inclined to push a bit further up the road on Saturday, maybe even going all the way to StL, albeit with a late arrival. Wouldn't leave much time to stop to smell the roses, but I could sleep in a bit on Sunday, get to MMW early enough Sunday to relax and stroll around for a while before driving the last 2.5 hrs home.

Then again, if there is something fun planned for Saturday, let me know and I'll make the necessary adjustments.

We're still debating on a departure time to head to Milford/Brighton. Originally we planned to head that direction on Friday (after working 1/2 day) with a stop on the way before arriving at the GM Proving Grounds on Saturday. Some activities have been added for Friday night in the Detroit area, so we may try to get there earlier.

im figuring there isnt a ton of stuff to do from U of I to gateway. they could actually cut across to springfield and head south on old 66 which would give them photo op's then they would be a bit later. but 57 down to 70 and in to gateway would only be about 3 hours, 4 if they are really draggin their feet. im heading over to the track at 3.

Vendors get in the night before for setup, and then cars will be rolling in from 10 - 4.   Some people get an early start, some don't.  Some people stop on the way, some don't.  You see the pattern.   The "Official" Hot Rod group will probably show up around 11 - 12.  Not sure if there is a planned stop in between yet.

For the day we hit St. Louis, there are a few stops....

1) There is a lunch stop at Mid-America that is required by the official Power Tour
2) We have a stop at Performance Plus out of Odin, IL that restores and builds award winning cars.  His 71 Hemi Cuda Vert Tribute was on SPIKE TV's Power Block just a few weeks ago.

Then we will be cruising into St. Louis.

ALSO....

On the way back, Any Power Tour participant gets into MMW for FREE on Sunday.

Stuart gates will open up around lunch time for any local and new additions to join in. Then it's just a steady flow untel 4 or 5 depending on stops made along the way. The next day we head to Miami ok longest day of the tour. Then it's a short run over to Stillwater ok that would be the Thursday stop. Then Friday morning you could run back upto monster MOPAR and clean your wheels or come on down to Arlington Tx for some real fun...

Definitely would be awesome to do Tuesday night as after we are done at Gateway, we could head over by you.

If you are serious about having us stop by, let me know.  I will put it in the email blast.

And I think the Champaign/St.Louis/Miami will be the best part of the trip if you can.  Even though Muskegon is quite beautiful and we are going to see a WWII Sub.....
