Please post you club's site or another club's that you know of for ideas.  Thanks in advance.   :2thumbs:

Could use some ideas here ladies & gentlemen.

I'd like to think our car club is a little different than the rest.  At our yearly shows, our cars don't compete with the public, just a club class.
If a car has already won it's class and it's persay the club or location's proprietor's, etc. pick we'll give the trophy to the next in line car.  Only way a car has multiple awards is if it's best of show or something.

We also have a Christmas party (prime rib, etc.).  It's never garbage.  And a white elephant Christmas gift exchange.
Club organizes a go kart night for it's members' at the local track.
During summer months, every Wednesday the local track has 1/8 racing & a car show, live band, kids' bounce house, etc.  Sometime they pull in 1000 cars.  Something like 3 awards are given out.  They'll have a Mopar night with our club the honored club.

It's just a great club imo, been around since '74.

Anyhoots our website could use a shot of adrenaline to perk it up.  A breast enlargement have you.

Any & all ideas to help jazz it up some will be scrutinized.  Thank you very much in advance.

Well besides the obvious improvement opportunity (errrr porn), .....

It looks like it was designed by a bunch of old guys (like you) (and like me) and it's boring.

Idea: turn the project over to a bunch of kids (say family members of the car owners) and let the younger folks "test drive" the site.

Or submit the site for a test drive to a local tech club (high schoolers) (free) or to a community college web design class (free).

As goofy as it sounds I think the first response is valid. The club probably needs to farm the job out to some hipster with web design experience who can look at it from a fresh perspective.

My initial reaction when I look at it is that the home page is bland. IMO there should be a little more excitement when you first come in. Maybe a pic of Bill's Duster launching the front wheels off the ground or some artsy, high quality pics of some member cars. Right now it's like walking into a dusty old library.

And the links need to be cleaned up and streamlined. For example you shouldn't have to click on the word "Forum" only to be routed to another page where you have to click on the word Forum again to get to the forum. And once there when you click on "Home" it doesn't take you to the home page, just back to the forum home (since it's apparently a piggyback link of some sort). Things like that are a little frustrating.

Under the Member's Rides category I expected to see cars instead of a list of links to cars. Maybe some thumbnails there would be good. And please, whatever you do, don't let someone try jacking it up with tracer arrows or automatic music blasts or those damn banners that float around wherever you go. Everybody hates that crap.

Anyway, just some ideas... :Twocents:

sounds a lot like my car club CPW. We work hard putting on the Fling shows, but the payoff is that we get to do all sorts of fun activities (dinners, field trips, etc).

Anyway...about the site. If youre asking for constructive criticism I agree with the previous comments. It looks...umm yeah..."home made",if you will. You might need - if not a professional, someone fairly adept at it - to revamp it. Reminds me of those old geocities websites back in the day.

My car club had the worst website for years. It was hard to navigate and the layout was terrible, which was a problem when people would seek out information about the Fling shows. Then about a year or so ago, a couple of members decided to redo it. It's a big improvement, but still needs a lot of work. Check it out:

I agree with what has been said.
I mean, it's not exactly horrible, I've seen much worse out there. Looks like it could use some more eye candy & user-interaction.

Sounds like the club is pretty large. Are there ANY club members that have web-design skills? Or their family members?
You could get the word out & make it sort of a "car club contest".  :scratchchin:
Send it out in the next email newsletter. Offer a prize to the one that designs the best website. Make it fun for them as an incentive. You might get some good responses.

Or, 68X426 has some good suggestions as well with local schools & colleges.
There are some other website services that offer templates for creating one. Some of them are pretty simple to use, so I'm told, and provide a good layout with room for expansion.

Lose the green.  Maybe a mix of the high impact colors on different pages, but I got a headache just looking at the site.  My friend does web design from home if you guys are interested.

Thanks for the great ideas.

I'm prolly one of the youngest in the club so the feel of the site lies squarely on me since I built it with a WYSIWYG site builder.  The sub lime colors were an attempt to liven it up.

The "members rides'" lay out was an idea brought over from the old site.

We only have about a dozen members who are active.  But every Christmas all the old members who disappear during the year show up.

I'm thinking at the Christmas party I'll mention some sort of incentive for the site.  Problem is I'm about the only one who sees the importance of a website.  So by rights I should be the one designing it.  I just can't come up with anything.

Some of these professional design places want like a thousand $$ to come up with something.  For that kind of scratch I know the club would just as soon let it die.

I know the "Upcoming Events" is used quite frequently in the summer from what folks have told me.

Thanks again all.  :2thumbs:

A good website is not cheap. One of the clubs I am in just re did the website and spent a pretty Penny doing it. A former member used to manage it, and it was lame.

This is our local Mopar clubs site. It is pretty good. Easy to navigate. Go to down to photos, I am third car from the left on the top row pulling in to last years show. They do a nice job with this website.

There's an idea.  Have everyone post their club's site to help with ideas'.

Check out Space City LX. The good news is it works great. The other news is we have a full time guru to make it that way.
LX Forums has a nice site. They too, have full time maintenance.

While I like looking at a pretty Female as much as the next guy, you cheapen up your site with Porn and that's all you'll get looking at it. There are sites for that type of personel. Keep it all business as I believe (And could be wrong here) that you guys set  up that club to be about cars, not naked females. All you need is some kid stumbling around and seeing that sh*t.
