Wow, great wife! She really got you good by pulling that one off.

No kidding! I still haven't figured out how she did it. She works at 911 dispatch so she can't leave work durring her shift. I told her about it after we got home from work. Her shift starts before they open that pawn shop. I went over at noon the next day and it was gone allready.

Perhaps she sent the cops over to get it!  :smilielol:

I'd be leary of a $175 USA strat.  I go through guitars at the rapid rate, and am not quite sure about the one you saw.  Most pawn shops would start at least 350 for a used USA, in decent condition. It could have been a refurbished USA or a complete fraud.  If you see one for that price have them take off the string plate on the back and see if there are any markings inside.  A lot of people will take a broke strat and put it on a harmony, or ibanez etc. body and sell it as a strat, which is all well and fine unless the time comes you ever want to get rid of it. Just be pre-cautious and run the numbers like you would a car.  Also check the frets for a buzzing sound, as they may be wore down, check the neck to see the gap between your strings from fret 12 up.  If the guitar was set against a wall or dresser with the pickups facing up for a long time it will warp the neck and open the gap.  Remove the pickguard to see if the wires are direct or if the soldering looks to be fresh as the pickups may be recently installed, and may not be original ( you can also tell if there is water damage or fresh paint from this).  This is not a big deal either unless they have done a poor soldering job as it will cause a the guitar to quickly have relay issues. If a pawn broker seems irritated by any of these request they may be trying to pass off something scandalous. Biggest thing bud is go for any deal you run across but watch out for the extremely good deals unless you dont have the intent of ever reselling or upgrading. Check out musiciansfriend.com and sweetwater.com (both legit sites) and when I am in the states I routinely make a profit from these sites.  Buying guitars brand new and then reselling them for a profit ( still under what the local music stores sell for) bought me my 73 Charger :).

No buzzing from the picups, neck is stright, all of the hardware has fender stamped in it. Body is solid wood, Plays and sounds awesome. All in all I'm very happy. I think the price being where its was at has alot to do with the fact that I live in a very small town. The entire county has a population of 26,812. No doubt in my mind that the pawn shop really didn't know one fender from another.

No matter what the deal is, the fact remans it plays and sounds awesome! I'm verey happy with it.
