A friend of mine had a real nice B5 1970 Charger R/T that caught fire at an intersection after the new Edlebrock carb started misbehaving.
He discharged all of his fire extinguisher into the blaze, but it just continued to burn.
The car was written off, but the rear quarters and the floorpan were practically untouched.
He ended up selling it, and I believe it was restored.

For some reason I'm always very cynical about these things. Something seems fishy.

trailer alloy skin melted and dripped down is stuck on drip rail,i think...  if someone had a big pickup and chain they could of saved trailer and charger,instead of taking picture as they watch it all burn up....

        hard times and suddenly all kinds of fires break out???

When you come home from work to your building on fire, and the fire dept. is already there because the neighbor had already reported it, there's not much else to do except take pictures for insurance purposes. They wouldn't let us near it once we told them what was stored in the building. A boat, farm tractor, rider mower, push mower, garden tiller all full of fuel, not to mention a 55 gallon drum of race fuel, and I'm sure there are some of you out there that knows race fuel burns slower, but alot hotter that regular fuel. The '69 charger that was on the trailer about 6 feet from the building was also full of race fuel. 
   My husband wanted to use his chevy 3500 one ton pick-up, but the heat was too intense. It was a 90 year old barn, enclosed in tin, with 50 mile an hour winds, and several items full of fuel. 
   The state fire marshal estimated the fire to be in excess of 3000 degrees, just by the damage to the farm equipment.
   If I were in it for the money I would have made sure that my '70 charger R/T that was also normally stored in this building would have been in there too.  Thank God my husband put a scratch in the rear quarter last summer while parking it in this very same building and it was at the body shop getting a new paint job, or we would have lost this one as well.   
   This was an electrical fire started from the power line simply swaying in the wind.  We have rebuilt and all of our power lines are underground to prevent this from ever happening again.

yes, but not by us.  we decided it was more than what we wanted to tackle.
  there is a guy that lives in iowa that bought it from us, he's kind of a local "chip foose" type and couldn't wait to get his hands on it. we can't wait to see what he does with it. this is all he does, is rebuild cars.
  thanks for the welcome and the support, at least we still have our '70 charger R/T that is B5 blue with a blue interior, all original, numbers matching. our '69 was not. it was higly modified and nothing matching about it, so if we had to lose one of the cars, i guess i'm glad it was that one.  we have also purchased a '73 challenger to replace the '69 charger we lost. it was fun having his and hers chargers, but the challenger will be fun too. 
the challenger is also highly modified and is a full blown race car, with twice the horse power than what the charger had.  and it's also yellow with a black interior. thanks again!

[/quote The Chargers back half was warped pretty badly, but the front clip was decent.The body guy from Iowa looked it over pretty hard and is doing a total restoration of the car. My husband wanted me to correct myself in the fact that this was a REAL 69 Charger R/T.. minus the motor when we bought it. The tranny to the rearend was  correct too. This was a 10 yr project for us and the memories we will hold dear to our hearts. We both really miss our 69 and I did not want to give the impression that we don`t care, we do! It was like a member of our family. We hope someday to build another. The 70 Charger is also a REAL R/T. 440 4-speed, dana 60 with a 3:55 gears. no air,black top with a black strip... just thought I should mention

What a shame, if only you could of rolled that trailer forward, man it looked like it got very very hot.

Yet, the tires didn't blow out...

Man, that really sucks...

I know it doesn't show the passenger side of the trailer, but the tires did blow. in fact there wasn't any rubber left, just steel belts and rims.

That is just gut wrenching.... so saddening to see. Hopefully the owners can recover from that. What a shame.

Not as bad as this fire.

This women lost her 1.7 million dollar home, her 3 kids of which 2 were twins, and both her parents on Christmas day.

Just took the time to read the article. I couldn't even begin to fathom what she is enduring. Just horrible.
A car can be replaced. But things inside your home like family heirlooms, treasures, etc cannot. Definitely puts things in perspective.
