Radiator Fitting Issues

I have a radiator out of a '72 C Body that I was planning to put in my '70, but have some issues as far as the fitting of it goes. I measured the radiator and the car today and came up with some more exact measurements.

The radiator measures:

28 1/8" between the top two mounting holes
11 3/4" top to bottom for the passenger side
14 1/4" top to bottom for the driver side
Fan shroud mounts are 26" x 11 1/2"

The radiator support on my car measures:

27 3/4" between the top two mounting holes
10 1/2" top to bottom for the passenger side
14 1/4" top to bottom for the driver side
Fan shroud mounts should be 26" x 12 1/4"

I have heard of a lot of people modifying the brackets before, but with most of the holes needing to be adjusted, would it be worth it? I just brought the radiator to a rebuild shop today to have it checked out and also found out that there is a leak on it. That is not too big of a deal since it is repairable. Then of course I still have the issue of finding a fan shroud that will fit (which I can't find one). Let me know your thoughts. Can these mounting brackets for the radiator and fan shroud be adjusted or replaced? I have only found the new brackets for the 22" radiator. Thanks for the input.

Is there a part number on the top tank?

Sounds like maybe it's a 28".

If it is and you have to repair it anyway - I'd pass

Would it be possible to find some correct brackets for a 70 Charger and replace the ones that are on the radiator now? Or maybe modify the ones that are on it? I know it is not the correct radiator.

Should your Charger have a 26" rad? Is the opening for a 26"? Do you have a fender tag or buildsheet?
On the tag - is there a 26 in the upper right corner?

70charger2006

Yes I need a 26". It's on the fender tag. The support measures out for a 26" as well.

Rather than taking everything apart to change side brackets, put in a new core etc - you will still have a rad with the wrong number and probably close to the price of a brand new Glen-Ray reproduction.....Personally - I would go with new.
