Fit on the back of a '69 Charger on 8.5"(4" back spacing) rims without any issues rubbing??

Right now I'm running 275's and it appears that I have some room to play, but I don't want to learn the hard way that I didn't.

Thanks

I have fit 30" X10.50" slicks on my '68 they were mounted on 15x8 wheels with a 4" backspace. On the strip only. I use 275 60 15 goodyears on the street.

:scratchchin:  think a 285 on a 8 & half inch wheel with 4 inch back space  will  rub/ cut the tire wall  or be to close ,
went all through this with mine , when i had the wheelrite thingy from percys ! forget exactly now  , but remember a 235 tire on a 8 inch wheel with 3.75 back space was close , IMO  but safe  as long as you had original quarters or depending what make of repops , the lip trimmed  to match the OEM width

below is a picture of my rear wheel / tire ! combo for reference  (looking up) , (original quarters)
255 tires on a 15x8 inch wheel with 4 inch back space , IMO thats as close as you want ,  4.5 back space is the ideal size on with a 8 inch wheel , but i wanted the deepest  dish look possible & all wheels & tires the same

Thats a nice looking setup. I like the wheel choice.
If you are concerned with interference, remember: you are only going 5 millimeters per side. Look at the size of a 5mm wrench..... its almost 1/4".

Jeff, you should be fine with a 5" backspace on an 8" wheel.

I run 295's on a 10" wheel with a 5" backspace with no problems. There should be plenty of room with a 285 tire.
