just out of curiosity. The state is Texas...

You talking about a lost title or whats the situation?

Anything older than 6 or 7 years old only needs a signature from the seller. Doesn't have to be notarized.

I believe all district head offices can print you a new title on the spot.

they lost the title but they've owned the car for 20+ years.

all they have to do is file for lost title...just a couple pieces of extra paperwork...

Not sure how it is in texas but cars only later than 73 or so here in ny had titles..the registration was your title.
